Eric Stein Obituary
Eric Wayne Stein Sr., 48, of Bryan, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2500 Barak Ln. in Bryan. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. following the visitation. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 21, at Beth El Memorial Gardens Cemetery in San Antonio. Hillier Funeral Home has been entrusted to his care.
Eric was born on April 14, 1964, in San Antonio, to Stanley and Joyce Stein. He graduated from high school in 1982 at Texas Military Institute and was a 1987 graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio. In his youth, he was an avid tennis player and loved sailing. Due to many tragic losses in his early life, he deeply valued his family and friends. Eric lived in the Bryan area for the past 24 years. He possessed an amazing sense of humor, a deep faith, and a big heart. He was also very passionate and had great inner strength.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Stein, Joyce Stein and Sandra Stein; brother, Stanley Stein Jr.; and paternal grandparents, Sidney and Goldye Stein.
Eric is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kristy Stein of Bryan; daughter, Amanda Stein of Austin; son, Eric Stein Jr. of Bryan; brother, Colin Martin and wife Valerie of Greenville, SC; and grandmother, Faye Lightburn of Jacksonville Beach, FL. He also leaves behind numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

My Sweet Kris, our Fifth Daughter! Our hearts ache with you at the loss of our sweet "Son" of our heart. Eric was my college roommate in 1982 and 1983 at UTSA. We lived in his uncle's house near USAA. We had a great time, and visited each other's families. I see that he lived a full life and was blessed with a family. We are very saddened at this premature loss.

I knew Eric for two years during my time at TMI. I was much younger and a new kid to the dorms. Eric was always nice to me and always had a good sense of humor. That mattered then and it matters now. I am so sorry for your loss. My husband and I knew Eric when he was a student at UTSA and were quite fond of him. I have thought of him often throughout the years; the tragedies he had to endure and I am so glad that he had the time that he did with you. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
