He was born July 30, 1959 in Midland, Texas, the son of Dennis and Louise (nee White) Kasner. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Terry Chapel.
Gary graduated from high school in Travis, TX at Rosebud-Lott High School. He held several jobs as a young man before going to work for the City of College Station. After 6 years of service there, he moved over to the City of Bryan where he remained a loyal public servant for 26 years. He loved working for the city as a code enforcement officer, where many of his co-workers became like family to him. On the side, Gary served as an umpire for the City of Bryan for many years. He was also proud to work for the Texas A&M Athletics Department. He enjoyed working the football and soccer games but his absolute favorite, was the baseball games.
Gary also loved being outdoors. He spent his leisure time at the lake fishing or out on his deer lease hunting and just enjoying the land. Those he loved most while doing what he loved most always surrounded him. Faithful until death, Gary was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he loved attending Sunday bible study and service.
His paternal grandparents, Bruno and Elsie Kasner and his maternal grandparents Lewis and Bruno White precede Gary in death. He was a devoted husband to Julie Kasner; a loving father to his daughters Michelle Kasner and Codi (Matt) Young and three stepsons; a dear son, brother, nephew, grandpa, and friend.
