Jerry Stephenson, age 68, of Camp Creek, passed away Friday, September 15, 2006. Jerry was born June 16, 1938, in Dayton, Texas, to W.B. "Jack" and Ruby Daniels Stephenson.
Jerry received a Bachelor's degree in Music and Masters degree in Counseling at Sam Houston.
Jerry was a Christian man and was extremely generous. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being in the outdoors. His family will remember him as "the best dad and granddad in the world!" He was a fabulous cook, a great dancer and had an unforgettable sense of humor. He was a former assistant Scout Master for Troop #953 in Liberty, Texas.
Jerry had many talents and expressed them throughout the years. As a musician, he was a former band director at Allen Academy. He worked in the oilfield and also served as a police officer with Bryan Police Department, he served as counselor for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission and sold insurance for many years. Jerry was also the former owner of Star-Tex Security and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Calvert.
He was preceded in death by his father, W.B. "Jack" Stephenson; and sister, Jackie Flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Sandal Martin Stephenson of Camp Creek; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark & Carrie Stephenson of Conroe and Bruce & Erlinda Stephenson of Caldwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela & Kevin Gabriel of Galveston; his mother, Ruby Daniels Stephenson of Bryan; and five grandchildren, Logan, Grace and Lauren Stephenson and Sara and Austin Gabriel.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at Hillier Funeral Home with Father Bill Fowler officiating. A private family graveside will follow at Camp Creek Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Monday and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Calvert, Texas.
