Lugene Lohmeyer, 89, of Navasota, died Thursday morning, November 7, 2019, at Golden Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Navasota.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, November 10, 2019, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place 2:00 pm Monday, November 11, 2019, at Friedens Church of Washington, UCC, 20301 FM 1155 East, in Washington with Pastor Eric Dehmer officiating. Interment will follow in Friedens Church Cemetery.
Lugene was born July 14, 1930 at home in Washington to Henry and Ida Renn Lohmeyer, Jr. It was on April 3, 1955, that he married Willie Dell Holle at Friedens Evangelical & Reformed Church in Washington.
Lugene grew up in Washington County and attended Washington public school and later graduated from Navasota High School. He went on to Blinn Junior College and served his county in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Lugene was a rancher and also a quality inspector with Trinity Industries from which he retired in 1994. Watching sports, especially football and baseball, on television became his hobby after retirement. He was a lifelong member of Friedens Church of Washington, UCC as well as a member of VFW Post 4006 of Navasota.
Lugene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Willie Dell and brothers, Harris Sr. and Clarence Lohmeyer.
Survivors include his daughters, Lou Ann Canatella and husband Charlie of Washington and Nancy Bond and husband Rob of Jersey Village; 4 grandchildren, Holle Marie Canatella and husband Gregory Peek, Jill Bond Nesloney and husband Ryan, Matthew Canatella and Eric Bond; 3 great grandchildren, Nolan and Lexi Nesloney and Jasper Peek; nephews Harris Lohmeyer, Jr. and Gordon Lohmeyer; sisters-in-law, Rose Lee Lohmeyer and Hilma Stolz, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
In lieu of usual remembrances the family has requested memorials in Lugene's name to Friedens Church of Washington, UCC, PO Box 306, Washington, TX 77880-0306.
