Patsy Braune Obituary

Patsy Alwine Braune

August 11, 1941 - March 20, 2021

Patsy Alwine Braune, 79, of Boerne, Texas was welcomed into the Lord's arms on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Services will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Boerne. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on April 17, 2021, at the Aggie Field of Honor in College Station, Texas with her husband Don who was a founding member of the cemetery.

Patsy was born August 11, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas to Hazel and Paul Werths. She grew up in San Antonio, and graduated early from Alamo Heights High School while working at the Majestic Theater and caring for her paraplegic mother. She attended San Antonio College following high school. She met the love of her life, Don, on a blind date and they married in 1961.

Patsy quickly embraced Don's love for his alma mater Texas A&M and became an honorary Aggie, participating for many years in the San Antonio Aggie Wives Club. She also took up golf, which she played weekly for many years. An avid bridge player, Patsy loved to host bridge luncheons at her home. A devoted mother, she often served as homeroom Mom and was active in the PTA. Don and Patsy moved to Boerne in 1977, where she was active in the Newcomers Club, Garden Club, Republican Women's Club and The Order of the Eastern Star. They lived in Boerne until 1995, then spent several years in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and College Station, Texas. They returned to the Boerne area in 2010, where they lived together until her beloved Don's passing in 2019. She then moved to The Cottages at Chapel Creek in Frisco, Texas.

Patsy was an active member of the United Methodist Church, participating in many Bible studies and women's groups. She was very active in the Walk to Emmaus movement, directing several weekend retreats and mentoring many disciples with her gentle, compassionate spirit and strong faith in Jesus Christ. In their later years, she and Don were active in Christian outreach to many nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Boerne area.

As a mother and grandmother, Patsy was the first to cheer on her children and grandchildren and brag about them to everyone. She was known for her patience and kindness and was always available to listen and encourage her loved ones and friends. Her tenacity was second to none!

She will be greatly missed by many.

She is survived by her son, David Braune and wife Sue; her daughter, Amy Landis and husband Greg; grandchildren, Melanie, Daniel and Kendall Braune and Reese, Hunter and Wyatt Landis; sisters by choice, Charlott Benefield and Carolyn Godwin; and many other cherished family members.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don; and her parents, Hazel and Paul Werths. She is grateful to be reunited with them now.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards Santa Smith, Nicole Kulas, Helen Flores, Sage Care Management, and the staffs of Discovery Village at Dominion, The Cottages at Chapel Creek, and Total Hospice and Palliative Care for loving and caring for Patsy in her last years.

Instead of floral remembrances, the family suggests that donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Boerne or any organization related to Texas A&M University.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the staff of Holt & Holt Funeral Home of Boerne. To share words of comfort with the family, please visit www.holtfh.com.
