August 20, 1954 - June 16, 2017
Stella M. Rodriguez, 62, of Bryan, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, June 16, 2017.
Stella was born on August 20, 1954 to Juan and Rosa Martinez Contreras in Pecan, MI. She, along with her eleven sisters where raised working and playing in the cotton fields, often sharing one bedroom between all twelve of them.
Stella leaves behind her loving husband Jose A. Rodriguez of 37 years. The two met at a dance where Stella would tell you "It was love at first sight." As she would tell her children, the second she saw him, she knew he was the man she was going to marry. On April 12, 1980 Jose and Stella were married; the couple had two beautiful children, Jose F. Rodriguez and Anjela Rodriguez.
Though she struggled with many trials in life, including a 15 year battle with cancer, her faith never diminished. She was a God loving woman whose home was open to all. Her love for baking, crocheting, and sewing for family and friends, the warmth and love that she brought to those who knew her will be sorrowfully missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Rosa Contreras; and a sister, Mary Garcia.
Stella leaves behind her loving husband Jose A. Rodriguez; her children, Jose F. Rodriguez and Anjela Rodriguez; her sisters, Cruz, Mary Helen, Janie, Josie, Carmen, Rosa, Guadalupe, Terri, Susie, and Isabell; her adored granddaughters, Jazmine and Rosita; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A time for family to receive friends will be from 5-7PM on Wednesday, June 21, at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. Services will be held at 11AM on Thursday June 22, at Inglesia Nueva Vida Church with Pastor Enrique Cuevas officiating.
