Steve Tinkle Obituary

Tinkle, Steve

Nov 9, 1969 - Sep 7, 2024

Steve Tinkle, 54, passed away on September 7, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 6, 1969, in Freeport, Texas, to Monte Dawson and Steve Tinkle, Sr., Steve's vibrant spirit and entrepreneurial drive left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.

After completing high school, Steve began his studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University before transferring to Texas A&M. It was there that he became a proud father to Ilse and Stoker, the greatest joys of his life.

Steve's illustrious career was defined by his passion for helping others succeed through his compassionate leadership style. He mentored countless startups, taught at Texas A&M, and served as a strategic advisor to industries ranging from baseball teams to landscaping. His leadership with investors at Seed Sumo and his ability to simplify complex problems helped build core values for numerous businesses, whether mentoring at work or in casual coffee-shop conversations. Steve had a knack for radical ideas that would change the perspective and challenge the very foundation and limits of anyone's thought processes. Steve was a guiding beacon of light for entrepreneurs, always making them believe that their dreams were within reach.

Known for his warmth and wisdom, Steve was a source of strength for many during their darkest hours. He had the rare ability to uplift those around him, offering advice, life-hacks and support at any time of day. Whether wrangling cattle, raising dogs, building castles (real ones and sand ones) or cruising in his Corvettes, Steve brought his whole heart into everything he did. To some, he was like Tony Stark, always impeccably dressed and full of innovative ideas. To others, he was a compassionate friend, a shoulder to lean on and did it with a strong belief in God and the scripture he loved so much.

A dear friend once wrote to Steve, "Your kindness and optimism have been a constant beacon for us all. No matter the circumstance, your calm voice and sage advice have been like a soothing balm. I often wonder if you secretly have a stash of magical wisdom dust tucked away somewhere. It wouldn't surprise me!" This sentiment truly captures the essence of Steve, a man whose warmth and wisdom were unmatched.

Steve's love for life extended beyond the boardroom. He once rode his bike from Texas to the Pacific, just because he could. He performed on stage, spoke in front of students and community groups, and inspired millions through his business TikTok videos. Steve's unique ability to connect with people meant that even a five-minute conversation with him could change lives. He challenged people to reflect on their goals and to see the world in new ways.

As one colleague shared, "Steve was one of the few 'superhumans' you encounter in life-an intelligent, inquisitive mind paired with an enviable work ethic, wrapped in integrity... and he was fun to work with." Steve was truly one of the good ones, and now he's making the heavens a better place.

Steve is reunited with his beloved grandparents, Wilson Tinkle and Margie Crawford, as well as Melba and Buck Williams, and his brother, Shane Tinkle, who passed before him. He is survived by his sisters, Wendi Summers and Lindsey Dawson; his parents, Steve Tinkle Sr. and Monte Dawson; his Aunt Vickie Higginbotham; and his children, Ilse and Stoker Tinkle. He also leaves behind a large, loving extended family and thousands of entrepreneurs around the world who were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and drive.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, September 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The BoatHouse at Millican Reserve, located just south of College Station. Guests are welcome to come and go as they please.
