Robert Ford Obituary

EASLEY — Robert Bruce Ford, MD, 89, husband of Alice Parham Ford, passed away Tuesday, Jan., 5 2021.

Born in Easley, he was the son of the late Enos Walker Ford and the late Ruby Berryman Ford.

Dr. Ford was a 1949 graduate of Easley High School and a 1953 graduate of Furman University where he received a B.S. in Psychology. He later graduated from MUSC in 1957 where he rotated internships and completed psychiatric residency. Dr. Ford held a private practice in psychiatry with Spartanburg Regional for over 25 years.

He was a member of Roberts Presbyterian Church in Anderson where he was an Elder and Sunday School Teacher. Dr. Ford also served as past president of Golden Kiwanis in Anderson and proudly served two years with the U.S. Air Force as Chief of Psychiatric Services at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL and as the Southeast Area Medical Consultant in Psychiatry.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Ford is survived by four sons, Robert "Bob" Bruce Ford, Jr. of Anderson, Donald Walker Ford (Joanna) of Panama City, Fla., Steven Berry Ford (Clare) of Spartanburg, and James Frank Ford (Stephanie) of Douglasville, Ga.; a stepson, Paul Caffrey (Monica) of Charlotte, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Sylvia Bertz (Steve) of Southport, N.C., and Teresa Taylor (Steve) of Tega Cay, S.C.; two brothers, William Marion Ford of Clinton, S.C., and John Enos Ford of Easley; seven grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Daphne Berry Ford.

A private funeral service at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roberts Presbyterian Church, 2716 SC-187, Anderson, SC 29626 or to a charity of one's choice.

I just learned of Dr. Fords passing. He was a gentle and gifted physician which I had the pleasure of working with for several years . I am saddened to hear of his death, but so happy to have known him.

Bruce was one of the first people to welcome us at Roberts Presbyterian Church. His kind, friendly and spiritually faithful presence provided wonderful leadership for our Sunday School class for many years. Alice, we have missed you both so much these last few years, but know that, now, Bruce is in the loving arms of his Savior. Duane and Pat Johnson
