Monica Cortez Obituary

Monica Cortez, 44, died Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
Monica was born on Monday, March 7, 1977, in Lima, to the late Jesus Cortez and her mother Dolores (Lopez) Cortez who survives. On Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, she married Krystalyn [Hoskins] Cortez who survives.
Monica had worked at the Beer Barrel and several other area restaurants. She also worked at International Brake Industries where she served as a union representative. She loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
She is survived by three sons: Justin Cortez of Cincinnati, Brandon Krieg of St. Marys and Joshua Krieg of Celina; three grandchildren; two brothers: Juan (Christina) Cortez of Cridersville and Jaime Cortez of Lima; a sister, Martha (Rusty) Hill of Lima and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 18, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Father Paul Mathew will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
