Mildred Boitnott Obituary

Mildred Jamison Boitnott

April 18, 1924 - May 6, 2025

Mildred Jamison Boitnott went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 6, 2025. Born on April 18, 1924, to Elbert and Minnie Flora Barnhart, in Roanoke VA, Mom moved to Franklin County when she was around eight years old. She married Goggin Jamison in 1942 and together they raised seven children. The two of them were in the dairy business during their time together. Goggin passed away in 1977. Mildred, with the help of her family, friends, and neighbors, was able to continue her life and finish raising her children. This was a debt she felt she could never repay, and as such, their kids became her kids, their families became her family and she loved them all. In her earlier years, Mom was active in Highland UMC, the garden club, her childrens' schools and loved to play Bridge and Rook. Ice cream was always her favorite dessert and she could put away her share as well as your share if you didn't eat it. Mom loved to travel and did so extensively as long as she was able. She had the pleasure of traveling to a majority of the United States including Hawaii, and a number of foreign countries. Mom married Spurgeon Boitnott in February of 1996 in the midst of a snowstorm. Despite the inclement weather to start their union, they were able to spend 15 wonderful years together before Spud's death. Mildred was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Goggin and Spurgeon; son, Jerry Jamison; son-in-law, Bill Hicks; daughter-in-law, Diane Jamison; siblings, Lois and Earson Huffman, Fred and Lois Barnhart, Ruth and Bennie Flora, and Carl Barnhart; in-laws, Anita and Tom Crowson, Clark and Marie Jamison, Ruby and Galen Brubaker.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Phyllis Hicks, Peggy (Doug) Nunn, Glen (Mary) Jamison, Danny (Terri) Jamison, Terry (Cindy) Jamison, Alan (Gayle) Jamison; stepchildren, Tom (Pandy) Boitnott, Linda Downing; grandchildren, Jennifer Butler, John Hicks, Judah (Paola) Jamison, Jeffrey (Cindy) Jamison, Michael (Stephanie) Nunn, Kevin (Amy) Nunn, Jessica (Tyler) Flora, Adam, Amy, Hannah, Sarah, and Jared Jamison, and John Boitnott; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Claire Butler, Teagan Hicks, Aubry, Ivy, Jade, Aidan, Jeffrey and Jerry Jamison, Chris, Stephen, Caitlynn, Cora, Mackenzie and Emilee Nunn, Marleigh, Ellie, and Andrew Flora; brother, Arthur (Barbara) Barnhart; sister-in-law, Mary Sue Barnhart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Highland UMC, P.O. Box 34, Callaway, VA 24067. We want to express our appreciation to Red Oak Manor and their wonderful staff for the excellent care given to mom. "We are confident I say and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." - 2nd Corinthians 5:8

Funeral service will be held at Highland United Methodist Church, 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, with Pastor Laurice Jones-Wilks officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow to Fairmont Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
