FRANKLIN - Jane Talley Cabe, 94, of Easley, South Carolina, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Prisma Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Will and Dovie Talley.
Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert, and siblings Clyde, Betty, Alice, Ernest and Roger. She lived a life marked by service, devotion, and love.
A professional secretary by trade, Jane spent the majority of her career with Eusta Matheson in Brevard. She also worked in the Transylvania County Clerk of Courts Office and several law offices in Brevard. Her secretarial talents extended to her church, where she served faithfully as clerk at Cherryfield Baptist Church. She was a member of Cherryfield Baptist and Holly Springs Baptist Church in Franklin. Her penmanship was impeccable.
Jane's passions included gardening, quilting and sharing the bounty of her flower beds and her husband's vegetable garden. Known affectionately as "Mammaw," she delighted in being a grandmother and was happiest when surrounded by her family and blooming plants. Her comments, those "only Mammaw could say" will be fondly remembered.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Mark) Gillespie of Easley, South Carolina, and Jill (Bob) Cabe Hill of Arkansas; grandchildren, Annie Brown of Seneca, South Carolina, and Michael Brown of Walhalla, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Sean Brown, Natalee Brown, Ava Brown, Aiden Keith, Cabe Keith and Mollee Brown-Massinello; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Jane was proud to serve on the building committee for the new Holly Springs Baptist Church and took great joy in its completion. In Brevard, she was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years, serving as Grand Matron and in various other roles.
Even in her final days, Jane remained actively working in the flower beds at her daughter's home in Easley, South Carolina. Her love, laughter and guidance will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
