Funeral Service for Mildred Joan Cabe will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Brownfield Church of Christ with Josh Ruiz officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Mildred was born on November 21, 1934, to D.C. and Lois Marie Flowers in Meadow, TX. She passed away on March 2, 2026, at the age of 91.
A woman of unwavering faith, Mildred cherished her relationship with Christ and lived her life in devotion to her family. In 1961, she married the love of her life, Walter Creed Cabe, in Meadow, and they shared nearly 50 years together until his passing in 2011.
Throughout the years, Mildred reveled in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren flourish, especially as they participated in sports. Her infectious enthusiasm for Texas Tech sports was well known, and she could often be found cheering passionately for her teams.
Mildred found delight in the creative arts, particularly in cross-stitching, crafting beautiful Christmas ornaments and stockings, and baby blankets that became treasured family heirlooms. Her hands were not only skilled; they were loving, weaving the fabric of her family’s memories into every stitch.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Creed Cabe; son, Robert Cabe; parents, D.C. and Lois Flowers; brother, Noel Dean Flowers and wife Betty; sister, Kathryn Clark and husband Charles; and 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Karley Cabe. She is survived by her son, Gary Cabe, and wife Katy; daughter-in-law, Angela Cabe; grandchildren, Forrest and wife Brisa, Hunter, Justin and girlfriend Ashton, Kristen and husband Kendrell, and Jason; and 9 great-grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be directed to the Brownfield Church of Christ.
