Carl Crow Obituary

Carl Edward Crow, 79, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, in the loving presence of family, at HallMar Village in Cedar Rapids, IA. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, from 2:00 â€" 6:00 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 15th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Carl was born on May 30, 1946, in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Paul and Marion Crow. At the age of 12, Carl was spotted by 11-year-old Colleen Burns from across the Sunday School room. He married Colleen, his wife of nearly 59 years, on December 23rd, 1966, while he was on leave from the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Carl served on a Navy Patrol Boat Riverine in the Brown Water Navy during the Vietnam War from 1967 â€" 1968. After returning from the war, Carl and Colleen settled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they raised their three children, Jennifer, Darrin, and Jacqueline. Carl worked in the trucking industry, starting as a mechanic at CRST, and eventually retiring as a parts salesman at Peterbilt, both in Cedar Rapids, IA. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Carl often saw him playing softball, coaching his daughters' softball teams, or looking up from the underside of a friend's car or church bus that was in need of repair. In his retirement, Carl continued to enjoy playing softball, traveling with his wife and family, and spending time with his grandchildren. All who knew him were graced by his ready smile, gentle manner, easy laugh, loyal friendship, quiet wisdom, and endless patience. The great joy of Carl's life was his eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Carl is survived by his wife Colleen; his brother Nick (Loretta) Crow of Pontiac, MI; his three children, Jennifer (Matt) Fischer of Anamosa, IA, Darrin (Robin) Crow of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jacqueline (Matt) Mullen of Cedar Rapids, IA; his eight grandchildren, Shiloh Crow, Jade Kriz, Anderson Crow, Dylan Kriz, Luke Crow, Madelaine Fischer, Nathaniel Fischer, and Quinn Mullen; and his great-grandson Kylin Kriz.
