EUGENE "GENE" WILLSON Springville Eugene "Gene" Willson, 62, passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, in Iowa City, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at Cedar Memorial Stateroom. Funeral services will be held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. A livestream of the funeral may be accessed on the funeral home website under obituary for Eugene Willson, under the video tab on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. Gene was born on May 21, 1959, to Charles and Darlene (Wicks) Willson in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 22 years. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Gene worked as electronics technician for the United State Postal Service, retiring after 18 years of service. On May 23, 2009, Gene was united in marriage to Brenda Werner at the Werner family farm in Winthrop, Iowa. Gene is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Brock Willson, Roy Willson, Robert Willson, Lindy Willson, Samantha Willson and Barry Werner; sister, Beverly (Pete) Verteiko; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Valerie French and Margie Willson Ette. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to your local American Legion or VFW.
