Frank Usher Obituary

Frank E. Usher, 75, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, Texas. Frank was born on Oct. 5, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Lester and Rita Usher. After graduating from Jefferson High School in 1964, Frank attended the University of Northern Iowa until he was drafted into the Army in 1967. Frank served his country and spent 14 months in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1970. After his military service, Frank graduated from Mount Mercy College in 1973 and began his career at Rockwell International. His career would take him to Dallas, Texas, where he would go on to further his career in telecom and outsourcing services, industries that would take him all over the world. Frank had a love of family, travel, politics, boating, sports, and of course, NASCAR. Frank is survived by his wife, Charlene "Ada" Chenault; sister, Jean (Alan) Schinsing of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his children, Chris (Karen) Usher of Allen, Texas, Darcie (Dan) Cotten of Knoxville, Tenn., Matt Smittle of Allen, Texas, Michael (Jessica) Smittle of Frisco, Texas, Jennifer Dickinson of Theodore, Ala., and Brandee Tercek of Plano, Texas; and 14 grandchildren. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
