Gail Beard Obituary

We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Gail (Chase) Beard on Feb. 21, 2023. Gail was born Oct. 14, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Charles and Patty Chase. She moved to Arlington,Texas, where she spent time raising her children. She later moved back to Cedar Rapids, which pleased her sisters and extended family immensely.

Gail was known for her superior Texas Hold'em skills, her amazing way of coming up with scrabble words (I still think she cheated a few times), and her luck playing the slots. She also had a love for travel. Some of her favorite places were Italy, Mexico, France and Egypt. Gail was previously employed throughout her life at General Mills, a Cedar Rapids bank and as a private secretary for an attorney in Texas.

Gail is survived by her children, Dawn Miranda and Michael Bartosh (Lori Tergerson); three sisters, Karen (Ron) Keilholtz, Paula (Rick) Limkemann and Elizabeth (Patrick) Lang; two grandsons, Antonio and Vaughn; several nieces and nephews; ex-husband but still great friend, William Beard; and her furry companion, Charlie.

In Gail's own words she said, "If you miss me, look up and I will be smiling down on you." Gail's laughter, smile, and conversations will be dearly missed every day. "Ciao, love you more."

There will be a Celebration of Life from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Cedar Rapids 2272 Fraternal Order of Eagles, located at 1735 11th St. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
