Jerald Nekola Obituary

Jerald "Jake" L. Nekola, 67, of Elberon, Iowa, passed away after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer, Feb. 23, 2023, at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, Iowa. Jerald was born Oct. 12, 1955, to Edward and June (Dolash) Nekola in Marshalltown, Iowa. He worked for 4 County Coop/Hartland Coop. He is survived by his wife, Pat Carroll of Elberon; daughter, Jodi (Matt) Hacker of Atkins; grandchildren, Joel, Grant and Alexis Hacker; siblings, Edward (Linda) Nekola of Cedar Rapids, Ronald (Shirley) Nekola of Jesup, Diane Hoover of Linn, Mo., Linda (Jerry) Fintel of Cedar Rapids; and several more family and friends. Jake was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Kathy Nekola. A Celebration of Life will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the CSA Hall in Vining, Iowa, with private burial at Stayskal Cemetery, Chelsea. Memorials will be directed to Mercy's Oldorf Hospice House and Hall-Perrine Cancer Center. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
