Robert Wetherbee Obituary

Robert Leo Wetherbee, 65 of Cedar Rapids was born on October 30, 1958, in Tallahassee, FL, and died on February 28, 2024. Private services will be held at a later date. Robbie, as his family called him, was their guardian growing up and is now their angel in the afterlife. He was the oldest sibling of four sisters, Stacy (Steve) Gearhart of Cedar Rapids, Marion (Jon) Luoma, and Laura May (David) Stacy, both of Massachusetts, and Leslie, an infant, who preceded Robbie in death. Robbie is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Catrine, Cassandra, Stephanie (Jason), Jason (Shavonda), Jenny, Zack (Bree), Mitch, Mindy (Nate), Andrew, Alex, Maverick and Chase; great-niece, Gracie, his angel who he loved being around; and many more great-nieces and -nephews. Robert was also preceded in death by his parents Robert Wetherbee and Donna Stacy two best friends, his brother Kevin T. McDonald and friend, Danny Ray Hartman Sr. Robbie married the love of his life, Audrey Offerman on September 9, 1995, in Cedar Rapids. He and Audrey loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and their family of fur babies. Together they shared a love most people only dream of until Audrey's passing on May 31, 2010. Robert also had two children, Danny and Robert Jr. Robert worked as a brick layer for 25 years until his illness took over. Robbie had schizophrenia that brought him down different paths after he lost Audrey and he was introduced to different cultures and places to live. Seven years ago, Robbie came back into his families' lives and was given the proper attention and medication to lead a productive life for his family. For the past four years, he has been a resident at the Kingston Hill Care Facility where he could be cared for by people he considered to be his bonus family. Robbie's family would like to thank the staff at Kingston Hill, especially Jennifer O'Brien, Stacy, Diana, Britni, Katie, Alicia, Selom, Bailey, Jacob, Denise, Shonda, Dwayne, Apryl, La'Sean, Tee-Tee for their outstanding, loving care, and their wonderful cooks, Kenya and Bobby. Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kingston Hill in Robbie's name. Online condolences can be left at www.teahenfuneralhome.com.

Robert was a good, sweet man. I miss him and think of him often. I really miss making him laugh and telling him he reminded me of Clint Eastwood. This would always get a good chuckle out of him. I hope he is reunited with his beautiful wife in heaven

I have taken care of Robert for almost 4 years. My fondest memory of him is when we were doing group, and everyone was to say where they would love to be at that moment and Robert stated he would love to be sitting on a riverbank with a pole in the water. I told Robert that would be the best place to be at that moment.
