Ruth Bernice Kuhn, 97, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Saint Ludmila Catholic Church by Father Kenneth Glaser. Burial will follow at Saint John's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:30 A.M. Saturday at the church. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is serving the family. Ruth is survived by her four children, Jeanette (Thomas) Niccolai of Cedar Rapids, Robert (Patricia) of Austin, Texas, John (Debra) of Walford and Mary Jacobs of Elkader; sister-in-law, Sister Marianne Kuhn and brother-in-law, Stanley Kuhn; seven grandchildren, Jessica Deahl, Mark Olson, Jill Specht, Rachael Siegel, Jennifer Brown, Alan Kuhn and Kim Anderson; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald (2018), her parents, one sister, Grace Kandler, two brothers, Norbert and Donald Drilling; and one great-grandson, Tucker Brown. Ruth Drilling was born February 22, 1927 in Cresco, Iowa to Frank and Walburga (Wiest) Drilling. She was married to Donald E. Kuhn on August 18, 1948 in Cresco. Following their marriage, they farmed near Burr Oak until moving to Cedar Rapids in 1956. In Cedar Rapids, Ruth enjoyed working as a secretary at Don Kuhn Realty Co. and Iowa Bearing Company. Ruth also enjoyed playing cards, especially "500." Ruth was an active member of Saint Ludmila Catholic Church since 1959 and its Saint Monica's circle. She had volunteered many hours at Mercy Medical Center. Ruth traveled with her husband and friends, visiting all 50 states and parts of Europe. Ruth's family is grateful for the support and care given by Keystone Cedars and St. Croix Hospice.
