Sherry's mom and dad were longtime neighbors and close friends of my parents. Jeanette, especially, told us lots of great stories about her children and grandchildren, so I felt like I really got to know who they all were. I am shocked about Sherry's death and heartbroken for her children, her brother and sister and their families. The Ernst family are great people and have had too many losses this last year. Wishing you peace and blessings.

Dear Daisy, Mack, and Jamie, I am shocked and greatly saddened to hear of your mom's passing. It's so hard to believe. Everything said about Sherry in the obituary is true. She was a refreshing spark of cheer and optimism to everyone. She took me under her wing and patiently taught me so much when we worked together. I have always admired her. She was patient, kind, cheerful and a joy to be around. I can't imagine how much you will miss her. God bless you and all of your amazing family. Love and sympathy to you,

Sherry was one of my closest childhood friends in our elementary days at Cleveland School. After over 40 years, I still remember vividly her cheerfulness, her loveliness, her goodness. May such tender memories stay in all of our hearts for the years to come. To Joy and John, whom I remember so well, I extend my deepest sympathies for all of your losses from Jeannette to Jack to Sherry all in such a short time. To Sherry's children, whom I've never had the blessing to meet, I wish you strength, beauty, and resilience in the year ahead, and beyond.

All of the words about Sherry's kindness and sunshine are so very true. We always enjoyed running into her, she was always so fun to talk to and she was always so very happy to talk about her kids and family. Her pride and joy in her kids and family was always there. Our deepest sympathy to each of you.

I first met Sherry 22 years ago at our home in Lake Vista. She was out jogging and there were some dogs chasing her. I asked her to come in and she said “No, I’m fine. They ran by.” Then off she ran. Braver than me! Next I met her at our neighborhood Bunco where we became good friends. She was such a sweet, loving person and so very proud of her kids. We stayed in touch through FB. I’ve heard others say she was “ sparkly” and she was. Her smile and laughter were infectious. She will be greatly missed. Keeping you all in prayer.

I started volunteering at Harrison Elementary in 2014 and then finally I became an employee in 2019! Sherry was always bright and bubbly each and everyday. I am so blessed that I had 7 years to be around her! She was a ray of sunshine in everyone's day. I truly will miss her! Prays and hugs go out to her family as well. xoxo

I’m so sorry for your loss. I remember Sherry from high school. We were in poms and West Side Delegation together. She was always so positive and so fun to be around. I’m remembering some pictures I have of her and am laughing and crying at the same time. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this very difficult time. Remember the good times and know she will always be with you in spirit.

I was so heartbroken to hear of Sherry’s passing. We met years ago through the school district and then also worked together. She was the kindest, happiest person I know! She was beautiful inside and out. She brightened everyone’s day and touched so many lives, including my children. We will miss her greatly! My heartfelt prayers go to her children and family. Rest In Peace Sherry. Heaven has gained a beautiful Angel.

She was always a breath of fresh air, light, and warmth. I was her third grade teacher and even though years had passed from the time she was a third grader, she came into my life again when I retired and started to do subbing at Harrison where she was the secretary. After reacquainting me as to who she was, I was able to remembered , with the help of a third grade class photo of her class .She was a genuine nice and kind third grader and all the years I worked with her at Harrison, I found those qualities had stayed with her. I am happy to have known her as a third grader and as an adult. Her warmth, light and breath of fresh air will remain with us every time we think of her. May the grace and comfort of God be with you, her family. Billie Mims

Dear Daisy, Mack, and Jamie,
My condolences to you on the passing of your mother. She was such a sweetheart and we were so blessed to have her as a co-worker in our school district. Everytime I would call the school regarding an order she was always very pleasant with a smile in her voice, so cheery and treated everyone as if they were a long lost friend. I hope everyones' remembrances of her will bring you comfort knowing she was so loved by everyone who worked with her. Sincerely, Lu Patterson-Sisco

Dearest Daisy, Mack, and Jamie,
I was heartbroken to hear of your mom's passing. She always had a smile on her face every time I would see her at Prairie Ridge. I loved it when she would stop in the music room with Jamie and brag about your accomplishments in high school and college. She was so very proud of you as she should be. May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time.

I will always remember Sherry’s infectious laugh. What a light she brought to the world during the blessed time she was with us. It was because of Sherry that I overcame my fear of thriller genre movies as she played The Shining at a middle school sleepover and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Because of her thoughtfulness, I learned the steps to the Roosevelt swing choir routines when I substituted in last minute - she patiently went over it with me late into the night (and I think of her and those moves every time Doobie Brothers play on the radio). She also convinced me to be brave enough to bleach my hair in my dormitory room, expertly handling the process, and piling on the compliments when finished (including “you look tanner now” with that sweet laugh). And despite years apart, she warmly welcomed me in that same “Sherry style” when I ran into her a year ago. She was a special person who made the lives of others better and she will be deeply missed.

What a great loss. Sherry is such a beautiful lady. I had the privilege to know her and be in all kinds of groups with her in highschool. I loved her positivity and fun personality. We finally got reconnected through social media after all the years and had a few chat conversations. Hugs and prayers to her family and friends through this difficult time.

My deepest sympathies. I cannot imagine the magnified grief you are all feeling. I am a JHS grad of 1985 and had one year with Sherry in WSD. I am also the Executive Director of the Cedar Rapids Community Schools Foundation, so I worked closely with Jeanette (and Jack) in their dedication to Grateful Grannies -- as well as interacting with Sherry during her position at Harrison Elementary. Your family has experienced such loss in one year. Know my prayers are surrounding you all. May the days ahead bring peace and blessed memories.

I am heartbroken for you kids and anyone who’s been touched by Sherry’s kindness and smile. She will forever be one of the sweetest humans I’ve known. She always had a funny perspective on things and I just loved all of who she was and how she made others feel. She brightened up each room she entered, truly beautiful inside and out. It’s been many years since we’ve worked together but thankfully Facebook kept us connected and I’ve enjoyed watching the kids grow. She will be missed. Our hearts go out to you.

Sherry was the sweetest person. I worked with her through the Cedar Rapids School District, I had just talked to her on Friday before she passed. She had a passion for life, she always got up, showed up and dressed up for each day. I admired her pretty hair and always told her how nice she looked. I am so glad on her recent birthday in November-I told her Happy Birthday Beautiful on facebook. But most importantly-she was beautiful inside as well. I am so very sorry to her kids and her family and friends-it still does not seem real. I hope you know she will forever be your guardian angel watching over all of you. Fly high sweet Sherry-fly high...

Sherry was an amazing person with a great smile n she made Abbigail Ohlhauser smile if she was sad. When I walked into the office, she'd say picking up Abbi n I told her yes n Abbi would say to her "see you tomorrow". Sherry will definitely be missed.
May God wrap his arms around you and the ones she has touched n give you all comfort during this time of sorrow.
Sending our condolences to Sherry's family n friends.

Sherry loved each student at Harrison. My oldest had to have surgery 3 years ago and each day he would stay in "Miss Sherry's" office during recess and he would tell funny stories about their time together when he got home. He truly adored her. Our deepest condolences to her family. May God wrap his arms of comfort and healing around each of you. She will forever be missed.
