Slaughters, KY
Joetta Crowley Melton, 86 of Slaughters, KY, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at her residence.
She was born April 27, 1931 in Slaughters to the late Miles Crowley and Etta Erphine Nance Crowley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin "Hank" Melton; one son, Montie Melton; one sister, Marvene Ritz; and one brother, Tommy Crowley.
She was a lifetime member of Slaughters Baptist Church. She was a 1949 graduate of Slaughters High School. She belonged to the Webster Co. Democratic Women's Club and she loved spoiling her dog Annie, traveling, and keeping her grandkids and great grandkids.
Joetta is survived by two sons, Steve (Gayle) Melton and John (Cindy) Melton all of Slaughters; one sister, Sue Warren of Slaughters; grandchildren; Bryce Melton, Chris (Cindy) Melton, Courtney (Jeff) Givens, Jonathon (Katie) Melton, and Jessica (Jeff) Todd; 12 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Slaughters Baptist Church with Bro. Alan Todd and Bro. Bill Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Slaughters Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home Slaughters/Hanson Chapel and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bryce Melton, Chris Melton, Jonathon Melton, Tyler Hedrick, Nolan Melton, and Jeff Givens. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Todd.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony's Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
