We are thinking of you and missing you so very much. It is hard to believe that we lost you on September 17th ... fourteen years ago. Each and every day, David, you are in our hearts thinking of the many cherished and happy memories of our family. Michelle, Scott, Brady and Mady are always sharing stories and fun times together. Dad and I think of you as our wonderful son always smiling and willing to help any one in need. You were such a beautiful person, David, both in love and your joy with helping anyone in need. Union School District staff and colleagues still share moments of laughter and fun they had as part of having you work and teach with them . Your students still share the many moments of excitement and joy of having you as their beloved teacher. You made such a difference with each of them.
I know you are looking down on all of us and smiling as we still share our love and spirit with you each and every day. Miss you sweetheart! Always in our hearts, David Gerald Caamano ... our cherished son! Love and Hugs!

It's been a long time since I remember hearing the news about Mr. C. It's been too long since it's last crossed my mind too. I had almost forgotten his first name entirely. I'm almost as old as he was, which goes to show how fast life can go by, but that still, some people can leave an everlasting impression. A joke he made still sticks with me.
Copper on the periodic table, is CU. Him being who he was, said, "Copper later" instead, to help us remember. That's the type of silliness you want with you forever. Those are the things people remember.
I'm sorry to all those who knew him better. To his wife and child who didn't get the chance to grow with him, and to his family who still honors his memory every year. My prayers go out to you.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Aunt Bernie was not able to make it this year. We did do Zoom with Aunt Bernie and it worked out so well ! Aunt Bernie has joined us for Christmas ever since Grandma Folz passed away... some twenty plus years. Scott, Michelle, Brady and Mady came over and we had a wonderful time playing Christmas games, opening gifts and just having a fun time.
You are always in our hearts, David, and we will always keep you close as we know you are smiling down from Heaven.

It is truly unbelievable that you have been gone 9 years. The time has gone by very quickly in some ways, but the memories of the good times we spent together as family seem like only yesterday. We miss you so very much, sweetheart! So many cherished memories!

We didn't know each other well David, but I'd been teaching for over 7 years by then, and I recognized a great teacher when I saw one. I was teaching special ed. at Union when I met you, and the kids would come to class with references like "Mr. Camaano let us...," or "We learned something really awesome with Mr. Camaano!... ." You were an especially important role model for the boys! I'd moved on in my career, but a friend had started teaching there when she told me what had happened to you. I cried... for the loss of the children and school community, and the loss of a brilliant light in this world. You are missed. Peace to your family.

Wow it's been 4 years without you. It's crazy to realize how fast time has gone. I will forever cherish the memories I shared with you Mr. C. You are the reason I put started putting interest in my school work. I thank you for that. I miss you so much you were the best teacher I've ever had. Your memory will forever live. Hard to believe that it has been three years since Dave's sudden passing. I still remember the disappointing and sad call I received from Mike Vrba with the news. Mike and I grew up doing almost everything together with Dave and the childhood and teenage memories I have Dave are so fun to reminisce in my mind. One order of business when I get to heaven will be a game of "backyard" football with Dave...and it will be the best game we ever played!

I worked at Troy with David. David left Troy to teach at Union. Troy had a track tournament and I was working crowd control. The tournament hosted several schools, so there were lots of people. As I'm walking the grounds, I feel a hand on my shoulder, I turn around and it's David. We shook hands and talked for a few minutes and then he had to get on the bus. David could have seen me and walked on by, but he didn't. He took some time to say, "hi." I will always remember this.

Two years ago today we loss you, sweetheart! We think of you and miss you each and every day! We also think and miss your sweethearts ... Delaney and Declyn! You are all very close in our hearts!
Yesterday, Mom and Dad, Scott, Michelle, Brady and Madelyn attended a Mass at St. Jude's Church in Joliet, Illinois in memory of you, Dave! Following that we went to your gravesite at the Woodlawn Cemetery II and sat by your gravesite and just shared so many moments that we had when you were with us! Little Mady and Brady then collected acorns from the large oak tree and placed them on the gravesite for their favorite Uncle Dave.
Michelle placed a message on her Facebook page this morning in memeory of her beautiful brother, Dave. The "NO EXCUSES" motto was displayed as we all recall your life here with us and the many wonderful moments we all shared.
Nicholas Ratajczak and several of your other friends, Dave, also placed messages on Facebook this morning in memory of their dear friend that they loss on September 17, 2010.
We also received messages from the staff at Union School District 81 in Joliet, Illinois and many friends and relatives in memory of you, Dave. We all truly miss you!

In remembrance of David G. Caamano who we loss on September 17, 2010, as he was driving to his beloved Union School building on that early morning, we are sending the cherished staff at Union School District a mum plant to be placed by the beautiful memorial plaque outside your building near the flagpole, along with a poem signifying the love that we share with him on this day. Dave is looking down and smiling as he recalls the many cherished moments that he spent with his Union School family and the students of that great building. "NO EXCUSES" was his motto and we know that Dave ... Mr. C ... had a tremendous passion and love for his colleagues, the students and parents of that very special school each and every day that he spent with you. Teaching and coaching were of essence to Dave as he frequently shared with us the many special experiences he had with his beloved colleagues, the students he came in contact with each day, as well as the very supportive parents of the district.
One of the things that we all remember of Dave is his humor and his joy for eating ... so, in remembrance of Dave on this 2nd anniversary of his passing, we are sending the Union School staff an arrangement from the Edible Fruit company. During the day on Monday, September 17th, just think of Dave for a moment and whisper a little joke or story to him as you enjoy the fruit arrangement!
Thank you for the beautiful remembrance of our son in your building with the picture of him and his favorite motto in your multimedia/cafeteria area, as well as the very special engraved plaque by your flagpole and landscaped area in memory of David G. Caamano from the staff, students, and parents of Union School. That is so appreciated and we as Dave's parents,his sister, Michelle and her family (Scott, Braden, and Madelyn), truly appreciate the beautiful gesture as we frequently stop over and view the wonderful memorial stone.

On the backside of the headstone are engraved the names and birth dates of your loving parents ... GERALD J. CAAMANO - JANUARY 12, 1945 and KATHLEEN A. CAAMANO (NEE FOLZ) - DECEMBER 20, 1944.
To get to the CAAMANO gravesite, take Jefferson Street to the Woodlawn Memorial Park II located at 23060 West Jefferson St. in Joliet, Illinois. Follow the road in the entrance of the Woodlawn Memorial Park II cemetary (curves to the left) and continue until you get to a bend in the road (a statue of the Sacred Heart is located in front of you) and take a right and continue following the road that is surrounded by trees. As you come around the curve of the road continue until approximately half way down and on your left with large oak trees and several pine trees, you will see the beautiful CAAMANO memorial headstone and gravesite. Dear David,
We are thinking of you today and we really miss you sweetheart. It is Christmas Day 2011 and you are very close in our hearts!
We are enjoying this special Christmas Day with Dad and Mom Caamano, Aunt Bernie Folz, Scott, Michelle, Braden, and Madelyn McCabe. We all opened our presents and then we enjoyed a very special Christmas dinner and the only thing missing according to Brady was his favorite Uncle Dave! We all had a mini cupcake with a crayon candle in it and we sang Happy Birthday to the baby Jesus.
Aunt Bernie and Mom Caamano visited Union Elementary School yesterday and viewed the precious black granite photo plaque and the message engraved on the monument honoring their Mr. C. The students and staff at Union Elementary School honored their special teacher by placing this very special monument in their beautifully landscaped garden section.
Barb Littlejohn, your former superintendent and principal is retiring as of June 2012. She will truly be missed by the Union School staff, colleagues, and community. Your good friend, Nicholas R. is being considered for the position as Nicholas will have his Type 75 Certificate by the end of the year. Mom saw Nicholas R. last week at the Jewel's store and they shared the wonderful memories of you, Dave.
We know that you are sharing heaven with your Uncle Virgil Folz, who recently passed away, along with your Grandma and Grandpa Joe & Isabella Folz, your Uncle Bud and Judy Folz, your Uncle Vic and June Folz along with many other beloved relatives and friends. The spirit of all of you will always remain in our hearts here on Earth!
We love you, Dave, and we feel your spirit in our hearts each and every day of our lives! Merry Christmas, 2011, David!

We know that you,Dave, as well as your Grandpa Joe Folz, Grandma Isabella Folz, Uncle Bud Folz, Uncle Vic Folz, and now Uncle Virgil Folz are together in heaven and looking down on each of us.
