Dwayne Miner Obituary

Age 45 of Grand Ridge and formerly New Lenox, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 11, 2008 in Bloomington.

Born November 19, 1963 in Joliet, Dwayne is a son of Lester C., Jr. and Marie A. Wellner-Miner.

He was raised and educated in New Lenox and was a graduate of Lincoln-Way High School (1981). Dwayne attended JJCollege, was a veteran of the US Army and also earned his MBA from Governors State University (1999).

He was currently employed by Midwest Liquid Transportation in Rockdale. Dwayne was a JJC Alumni, as well as a respected member of Grand Ridge, where he will be missed by many.

He served on the Auditing Committee for Grand Rapids Twp. in LaSalle Co. and together with his girlfriend Rachel Blackmon, Dwayne ran an in home parrot sanctuary and rescue in LaSalle Co. He was completely dedicated to animals, was known for raising turkeys and chickens and enjoyed hunting and shooting. Dwayne also loved riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his parents of New Lenox; girlfriend, Rachel Blackmon; one daughter, Jessica (fiance, Ryan Vlasic) of Indiana; one sister, Melody Fleming of Diamond; one brother, Lester (Kathie) Miner of New Lenox; uncles, Alvin (Toni) Wellner of Morris, Alois Wellner of Hennepin and James Miner of Braidwood; nieces and nephews, Candy (Jody Ritz) Jacobson of Diamond, Sarah (Shane) Bradshaw of Joliet, Ryan (fiancée, Lauren) Miner of Joliet and Daniel Miner of New Lenox; and great nieces and nephew, Joshua Martinez, Rosa Martinez and Breanna Konczal.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; one niece, Jennifer Miner; and his brother-in-law, John Fleming.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be Monday, December 15, 2008 from 4PM to 8PM at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Tuesday, December 16th at 11AM in the First Baptist Church of Coal City; 4470 East IL Route 113 West of Coal City.

Interment with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Dwayne's memory to Iowa Parrot Rescue, 2479 Golden Avenue, Letts, IA 52754 or to his family for distribution to local charities of their choosing. Online Guest Book

Dwayne I love you so much. I'm going to miss your sparkling eyes and your sweet nature. I don't know what I will do with no one to tease me about my cooking. You were such a loving brother, son,uncle and love to Rachel. Loving all animals and all your birds. Your going to be so missed. I guess God needed a big sweet loving goofball in heaven even more than we do.
