Age 95, of Braidwood, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL. Born on January 6, 1930, in Joliet, IL, she was the daughter of William and Jennie (née Faletti) Shaunnessy.
In 1952, she married Eugene John Rogers, and together they shared a loving marriage that spanned more than 59 years. Ellen began her career at the National Macaroni Manufacturer's Association in Braidwood and later worked at the Joliet Arsenal Plant in Elwood, IL. She and Eugene then moved to Rantoul, IL, where he served in the United States Air Force at Chanute Air Force Base, and Ellen worked in the dental office on base. Following his service, they returned to Braidwood before relocating to Syracuse, NY, where Eugene earned his master's degree in 1963. The couple eventually settled back in Braidwood, where they continued to build their life together.
A devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ellen was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. During her high school years, she contributed to the school's "Chatter" newsletter and played in the high school band. She also enjoyed golf.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Kathy) Rogers of Villa Park, IL; Dr. William Rogers of San Jose, CA; and Barry Rogers of Richmond, VA; her grandchildren, Jillian (Matthew) Elmore and Benjamin (Cathie Magee) Rogers; great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Harper; and her sister, Wilma Gaydos of Peoria, IL.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Eugene; her daughter, Jean Rogers; and her sister, Jessie J. Stokowski.
Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood, IL, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., with Father Sebastian Gargol officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Bourbonnais, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood.
