John "JT" Robert Janssen, 66, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away on June 13, 2025. Born on October 5, 1958, JT dedicated much of his life to serving his community, both as a volunteer firefighter with Troy Township and Mazon, and through his work at the Will County Forest Preserve.
JT was a graduate of Joliet West High School, where he first demonstrated his lifelong commitment to community service. He was a passionate sports fan, particularly of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls, and he cherished the time spent watching his grandchildren's sporting events and concerts.
JT is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Phil) Jurek; son, John (Jessica) Janssen Jr.; grandchildren, Phillip Jurek III, Nathaniel Janssen, and Amber Jurek; sisters, Michelle Janssen and Brenda Lutz; brothers, Doug Janssen, Phil (Dawn) Janssen; and uncles, Stanley Janssen, and Tom Zentarski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Anna Janssen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm at Hammel Woods Crumby Recreation Area. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation in memory of JT. His warm presence and dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

JT, We met when we were all just teens and on the Fire Dept. We all have many great memories that are cherished and well a few we all can´t share of our crazy youth! Thanks for your dedication to the communities you served. Thanks for the friendship we all shared.
