Died: April 10, 2021 in Joliet, IL
Joule Lenore Heck-Mead, 92, Joliet lifelong native, passed peacefully Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Amita Health St Joseph Hospital.
Joule was an artist (Gerlach Barklow Company) and talented seamstress, making her own wedding and bridesmaid dresses, as well as prom, wedding, christening and first Communion clothing, Christmas stockings and other items for her children and grandchildren. She was a founding family member of St Mary Magdalene Parish; active member of Joliet Catholic Grade School Band parents, American Theatre Organ Society, Joliet Area Theatre Organ Enthusiasts, Joliet Area Historical Society, Will-Grundy Counties Genealogical Society, 1946 JTHS Reunion Committee and Cathedral of St Raymond Nonnatus serving as lector and member of bereavement committee. Joule had a passion for family genealogy since the mid-60's. She glowed with joy while ballroom dancing, and stirred grandchildren to dance at sounds of her theatre organ.
Joule was preceded in death by husband Howard Mead Sr; children James Mead, Donna McCullough, and Barry Mead; parents Julius Heck Jr and Annabelle (LaMagna) Heck; siblings Julius Heck III and Betty Anne Wilcop; niece Nina Wilcop; great grandchild Caleb Tibble.
Survived by: children Dianna (Charles) Anderson Jr, Howard (Mary) Mead Jr, Deborah (James) Piazza, Dannette (James) Young; daughter-in-law Christine (James) Mead; 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Sharon Mead, 3 nephews, numerous cousins and lifelong friends.
Mass of Christian Burial held April 20 at the Cathedral of St Raymond Nonnatus, Joliet. Burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington. Arrangements by Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. View Joule's service at www.bgsfuneralhome.com.
