Michael W. Flake Sr.
Michael W. Flake Sr., age 40, it is with deepest sorrow we announce the death of Michael, of Maricopa, Az. He went to Heaven on January 9, 2022, after a courageous battle of Covid.
Michael leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor. Michael truly brought the life to the party or holiday. He was born December 27, 1981, to Sammie Flake Sr. and Jennee McClard (née Fetzer) in Joliet, IL.
Michael was a standout football player, playing many years with the Chanooka Braves, kindergarten through 8th grade, continuing with Minooka High School. He was beloved by everyone whoever met him. A fantastic, loving father, great husband, and a best friend to all walks of life. No matter the circumstance, you'd always leave with a story of something funny and or crazy while you were with him. Michael was an avid Chicago Bears fan, even having the opportunity to go out onto Soldier Field in Chicago to help hold and fold the American flag. He was an expert outdoor grill master, enjoying cooking for family and friends. Michael also enjoyed owning and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a devoted and loving husband and father to his four children, and they were his life.
Survived by the love of his life of 11 years. Lindsey Flake; children, Kaidyn Anderson, Michael Flake Jr., Dayton Flake, and Lilianna Flake, all of whom he loved deeply. Parents, Sammie (Sandra) Flake Sr. and Jennee (Patrick) McClard; sister, Tracy (Walter) Bratcher and his brother, Sammie (Amanda) Flake Jr. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael is now at peace with his maternal grandparents, Marvin (Mary) Fetzer and paternal grandparents, Troy (Carrie) Flake.
A celebration of Michael's life took place on January 15, 2022, in Maricopa, Az. with Michael's Aunt Nancy Smith Officiating.
A Celebration of life for Michael will be held at the Will County Forest Preserve, Hidden Shelter, 554 Brook Forest Ave. Shorewood, Il. 60404, (off Rt. 59, south of Black Road) on June 18, 2022, at 1:00pm. Family and friends are welcome to come and share memories of Michael.
