Robert Laken Obituary

Laken, Robert J. Age 67, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 in Cape Coral, FL. Survived by his two sons, Joe (Patti) Laken and Dave (Sandy) Laken; one daughter, Jill (Steve) Meyer; eight grandsons; mother, Nona Laken; brothers, Thomas (Deborah) Laken and Donald Laken. Preceded in death by his father, Joseph Laken; brother, William (Lois) Laken; and sister-in-law, Pamela Laken. Born and raised in Joliet, IL. Lived in several states, including Indiana, New Jersey and Maryland, most recently enjoying retirement in Cape Coral, FL. Retired as a Controller from WBX/Handy & Harmon after 25 years. Robert enjoyed fishing, playing cards, reading, visits from relatives, and hanging out with his many friends. He also enjoyed hearing stories about his grandsons. Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. to St. Joseph Catholic Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation Monday 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home.

Bob I always called him Neighbor as we lived across from each other He was a great Man we had a lot of memories at Top Field Apartment I still speak of him and think of him often.

Vic and I were neighbors and friends and fellow board members at Van Loon with Bob for over three years. We had great fun together, shared a love of James Patterson and Rum Runners. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. We send our deepest condolences. Marcy and Vic Zammit

We were very sorry to hear of Bob's sudden passing, and extend our deepest sympathy to you all. we had lived at Van Loon Commons for a couple of years, and frequently saw Bob sunning in the morning at the pool

So sorry to hear of your father's passing. We live at Van Loon Commons and recently had many conversations with Bob. He was always such a gentleman. May The Lord receive him with open arms and rejoice in him returning to the Father.
