Shirley Marble Obituary

Born February 20, 1962. She departed this life on Saturday,

January 6, 2007 at Silver Cross Hospital.

Shirley confessed Christ at an early age. She attended Joliet East High school. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and she will be missed by all.

Preceded in death by her father, John M. Adams, Jr.; grandmother, Mamie Lee Terry; sister, Rose "Baby" Blakney; and godson, Robert "D.J." Jones, Jr.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Bernard; mother, Sharon (stepfather, Joseph) Patten; her children, Melvin, Angelique and Christina Adams; grandchildren, Aaliyah, A'moni, D.J., Marcasia and Ranayah; stepchildren, Latonja, Bernard Jr., Brianna, Shante, Sheonta, Christopher, Michael, Tiara and Dervonta; sisters, Mia (Chris) McCullum, Shariss (Kenneth) Brown, Charita of Rockford, IL; brothers, Johnny Adams of Napa, CA, John M. IV (Varena) Adams, Quincy (Tamikio) Adams and Robert Clayton all of Joliet, IL; mother-in-law, Ruthie Mae Marble; sister-in-law, Ethonal (Curtis) and Marquitta, brothers-in-law, Willie, Andrew, Barry (Vickie), Bruce, Gary (Cyndi); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Tisa, Minnie, Lisa, Ms. Karry and Pam.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 13, 2007 from 9-11 a.m. at New Canaanland Missionary Church, 225 E. Clinton St., Joliet, IL, Rev. Lonnie E. Posley Sr., pastor. Home-going service at 11 a.m., Pastor Herbert Brooks Jr., officiating. Interment will be at Elmhurst Cemetery immediately after the service.

Hey aunty, I´m crying as I´m writing this cause even after so long you been gone, I still feel your spirit! I miss u more than you know. Riding with you, coming to your house, the cookouts wasn´t cracking til u got there lol. You truly was the glue holding us all together and taught us what family should feel like! 3 years ago I lost someone who meant the world to me. I don't know why, but like SHE always said everything happens for a reason. I remember her saying "don't be selfish all the time". So on *Jan.6th,2007* I learned a very valuable lesson, God giveth and he taketh away, so live everyday like it's your last,forgive and forget, grudges are pointless cuz u never know when u will be able to talk to that person again!!!!! It has been 2 years today since you left me.

SOMETIMES IN LIFE WE HAVE TO PREPARE OURSELVES FOR OUTCOMES THAT WE CAN NOT BARE, BUT WHEN DEATH CALLS YOU ARE NEVER REALLY READY.LOSING A LOVED ONE IS SOMETHING HARD TO SWALLOW BUT LOSING A MOTHER IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT, SHE CAN NEVER EVER BE REPLACED!MEMORIES YES WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE AND CARRY WITHIN BUT THE QUESTION REMAINS WHY MY MOTHER WHY MY BEST FRIEND.MISSING HER SMILE HER WIPING AWAY YOUR TEARS , NO MORE COOKOUTS NOMORE SHIRLEY KEEPING IT REAL! A DEAR FRIEND , A SISTER, A MOTHER IS THE TITLE SHE HELD,DON'T GIVE UP FAMILY ALL HAS NOT FAILED,EVEN THOUGH GOD CALLED MS. SHIRLEY HOME....KEEP THE FAITH, KEEP THE STRENGTH CAUSE SHE WOULD WANT YOU TO CARRY ON. JUST TRUST IN HER AND KEEP THOSE MEMORIES ALIVE AND TRUST IN THE THREE SHE GAVE BIRTH MELVIN, ANGELIQUE, AND CHRISITNA AND FROM TIME TO TIME YOU WILL SEE HER FACE AND THAT BIG KOOL-AIDE SMILE THAT KEEPING IT REAL ATTITUDE THAT MADE YOU RELIZE . I KNOW THAT ITS HARD FOR THIS FAMILY AND IT SEEMS SO UNFAIR THAT A LOVED ONE IS GONE DO I SPEAK FOR THE WORLD WHEN I SAY SHE WILL BE TRUELY MISSED HER SMILE HER REALNESS AND THAT STABILTY OF ALWAYS LENDING A SHOULDER OR BEING RIGHT THERE I KNOW ITS HARD BUT TRUST IN GOD PLEASE KEEP THE FAITH AND I PROMISE YOU WHEN YOU ARE CALLED HOME SHE IS TRUELY AN ANGEL THAT WILL MEET US AT THOSE PEARLY GATES!!!!!

As I sit here on this day, staring out the window, into the sky, just finding nothing better to do than pray. As I sit and pray, tears run down my face just knowing what a special woman Shirley was. Shirley had a smile like no other. Her smile was brighter than the brightest sun and a heart bigger than the world.

I know that it hurts, and some days we don't know how we will go on or find comfort. Well rest assure that the comfort comes in just knowing that Shirley is right now above looking down knowing that she gave her all and did her best.

Shirley was truly a woman with many titles.

Sometimes we may feel that our all is just not good enough. Just look pass it all and keep giving your all and doing your best as you are a reflection of Shirley.

Shirley did an "EXELLENT" job. Her ALL did pay off.

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
