Donald Arterburn Obituary

Rev. Donald William "Don" Arterburn, 89, Kokomo, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, at his home and was welcomed into Heaven, where he heard the words, "Well done my good and faithful servant".

He was born May 4, 1933, in Harvey, Ill., the son of the late William T. and Nellie Louise (Caress) Arterburn. On June 29, 1957, in Windsor, IL, he married Ledora Anne Myers who survives.

Don was a 1951 graduate of Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Ill. After high school, he went on to
graduate from Bethany College in Bethany, W. Va. in 1961 and then from Lexington Theological Seminary in
1965.

Don served as a Disciples of Christ minister for 45 years, retiring in 1999. He served as a student minister in
Quaker City, Ohio, and as a minister to Antioch Christian Church in Lexington, Ky., Macon Christian Church,
Macon, Mo., Mirror Lake Christian Church, St. Petersburg, Fla., Oaktown Christian Church, Oaktown, and

Don was a member of First Christian Church in Kokomo. He was in several service clubs in various
communities and was an avid reader throughout his life until his eyesight prevented it. Ministry was his
passion, and he was dedicated to the congregations he served. After retirement, Don served several interim
pastorates. Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He dearly loved his two grandchildren,
Camden and Clara, and looked forward to their visits.

Along with his wife Ledora, Don is also survived by his children, Mark Edward Arterburn, and Debra Lynn
(Alvin) Hochgesang; grandchildren, Camden Joseph Hochgesang and Clara Anne Hochgesang; brothers,
Lawrence (Peggy) Arterburn, and Dennis (Carol) Arterburn, along with several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Glee Louise Arterburn.
