Angelo Liquori Obituary

Angelo Liquori, Jr., beloved husband of Nancy (Dawson) Liquori, a life-long resident of Norwalk, CT and also of Tavares, FL, passed away on August 9, 2011, at home with his family by his side. Born February 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Angelo and Teresa Liquori.

Angelo attended Norwalk schools, and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He served on board the destroyers USS O''Hare DD889 and USS Irwin DD794. He was the long-time owner of Bernard''s Deli. He worked for Caldor for 24 years and later retired from the Trans-Lux Corporation. Angelo was active for many years as a coach and manager in the Norwalk Pony/Colt baseball league. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and tending his garden.

In addition to his wife, Angelo is survived by his sons, Daniel and his wife Carmela of Norwalk, CT and Thomas and his wife Mary of Bethel, CT. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Daniel, Kaitlin, and Kristine Liquori of Norwalk, and Matthew and Joseph Liquori of Bethel. He is also survived by his sisters, Josephine Lockhart of Fresno, CA, Antoinette Galyas of Norwalk, and Yolanda Ellis of Thomaston, CT, a brother-in-law, Edward Dawson and his wife Violet, of Clear Lakes Oaks, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. John''s Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations in Angelo''s name may be made to: Connecticut Hospice, 1 Park Street, Norwalk, CT 06851 or the Elizabeth Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care c/o St. Vincent''s Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
