Brian A. Mackle, age 81 of Norwalk, passed away on August 23, 2022 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Eileen Byrne Mackle for 55 years. Brian was born on October 4, 1940 in County Armagh, Ireland, to Daniel and Teresa (Gallagher) Mackle. Brian worked for many years as a carpenter for Carpenters Union 608 in New York, and retired as a building superintendent for Broadwall Management. Brian was a devout Catholic and was also very involved with all of his family's activities. He played the violin and loved traditional Irish fiddle music. He also enjoyed golf, westerns and was an avid reader.
In addition to his wife, Eileen, Brian is survived by his children and their spouses, Anne and Chris Wagner, Daniel and Ivey Mackle, Janet and Phil Mitchell and Brian and Betsy Mackle; his loving grandchildren, Daniel, Carly, Sean, Jason, Kate, Eileen, Nora, Liam, Lillian, Jack and Emily, Rosaleen and Charlotte. Brian was the 13th of 15 children born to his parents. He is also survived by 5 of his 14 siblings; as well as nieces and nephews and extended family in Ireland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27, 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Brian's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, on Friday (today) from 5-8 PM.
