While I never had the opportunity to meet Brian, I know his brother Blaise well. Blaise, who also survives Brain, is a good man and has always spoken highly of Brian. From Blaise's stories, I know that Brian too was a good father and enjoyed a blessed life.

My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Schmidt family. May God comfort you is this time and bless your lives as he did Brian's.

Brian was a wonderful friend, but the role that was most important to him was that of husband and father. He had great wit which I know can never be replaced. Every time we spoke or e-mailed each other, he made me laugh about something. I loved hearing the stories of his children as they grew up and how he and Sue were enjoying them. It's just so hard to say good-bye. Sue, Kyle, and Christian, you will continue to be in my prayers as you walk this path. God bless.

Brian was a great friend - warm, light-hearted and one who always cared where you were at in your life. When he spoke about his family, he lit up in sharing that part of his world. He was also an accomplished professional at Blackrock; and had so much more to give. It's hard for me to believe he's not here with us any longer. I will miss his smiling face.

I was friends with Brian at Marist. I did not keep in touch with him over the years, but the news of his passing saddens me greatly. I have fond memories of Brian. My condolences go out to Susanne and the rest of his family.
