David Weddell Obituary

David L. Weddell, of Fairfield, CT, died as a result of complications from surgery on February 8th in Rockport, ME. He was 68. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 16th, 1947, Dave and his family moved many times throughout his childhood. A talented artist, Dave attended the Museum School in Boston as a teenager. He later became the owner and operator of Franklin Auto and Cycle in Franklin, NH, before ultimately entering the financial advisory business with his father and brother-in-law almost twenty years ago. At LPL Financial in Norwalk, CT, Dave was respected and loved by his clients, many of whom considered him to be not only a trusted financial consultant, but also a friend or a member of their family. At the time of his death, Dave was in the process of moving to Portland, ME to continue at LPL with his brother-in-law, Steve, and his niece, Elizabeth. David was actively involved in Norwalk Kiwanis for many years, and was on the vestry at Trinity St. Michael’s in Fairfield. Very musically inclined over the course of his entire life, Dave loved ballroom dancing and Latin Bachata music, which he introduced to many of his family members, friends, and clients. He was also a devoted Mets and Cubs fan, and eagerly awaited the beginning of the baseball season each year. David was an avid reader and a lifelong learner, and loved sharing his diverse interests with those around him. He was admired for his quick wit, his dry sense of humor, his passion for learning, his wealth of obscure knowledge, and his kind heart. Dave was very close to his small, tight-knit family, and loved holidays and family gatherings, occasions at which his presence will be sorely missed. David was predeceased by his parents, Nancy and Larry Weddell, formerly of Norwalk. Survivors include his son, Joseph of Northampton, MA; his sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Steve Magyar of Rockport, ME; his niece Elizabeth Stockwell and her husband Ben of Scarborough, ME; his nephew Paul Magyar and his wife Lori of Brooklyn, NY; his two adoring great-nephews Ethan and Adam Stockwell; and countless beloved friends and clients. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at Trinity St. Michael’s Church in Fairfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, David would have wanted those who were so inclined to make a donation to the charity of their choice in his memory.

To David's family, my deepest sympathies. As a former president of the Kiwanis club I can say that we could count on David to help out with every one of our projects. He worked hard and had a good story telling ability to make the work go faster. We all miss you, David.
