Gary Theroux, beloved husband, father, and award-winning entertainment producer, passed away August 9 in New Haven, CT. He was 73.
Gary was born October 2, 1951 in Newark, NJ. Growing up, he loved being creative, whether it was drawing, making 8mm films, or constructing his own board games. While working at his campus radio station at Illinois State University, he met Joan, the love of his life. They married in 1983 and settled in Norwalk in 1994, where they raised their sons Mark and Rick. Nothing brought Gary greater joy than spending time with his family.
Over his professional career, Gary produced or contributed to dozens of film, television, theater, and radio projects. For 20 years, he was the Music & Entertainment Editor at Reader's Digest. He also acted on stage and screen, hosted multiple radio shows, and produced numerous TV and radio series, including the syndicated acclaimed radio series The History of Rock 'N' Roll.
Gary is remembered for his intelligence, kindness, knowledge, warmth, humor, creativity, and storytelling skills.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; his sons, Mark and Rick; nieces and nephews; and his sister, Linda. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Marjorie, and his brother, David.
