Glennie Coon Obituary
Norwalk Resident
Glennie Coon, age 75, of Norwalk, entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Elba, AL to the late John F. Wilkerson and Mary F. Coon, Glennie has been a resident of Norwalk for the past fifty years. She was employed in the shipping/receiving dept. of Corday, Inc. for more than thirty years.
Her spiritual needs were met as a disciple of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she served more than thirty-seven years. She was a very active participant and functioned as Trustee, church Financial Secretary, President and member of the Gospel Choir, Missionary, Pastor's Aide member, and Sunday School Secretary.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, A.C. Hill and sister, Heddie B. Hill.
Survivors include a son Juan (Hakima) Coon of Stratford; a daughter Fifi Coon of Norwalk; a sister Mary Graham of FL; four grandchildren, several nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014, 7:00 PM at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Rockland Rd., Norwalk, CT 06854 with Pastor Kenneth DuBose, officiating. Interment will take place Friday, 9:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Ave., Norwalk, CT 06850. Friends are invited to the viewing Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the church.
