James Deering Obituary

James Joseph Deering
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Joseph Deering, 85, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Born to parents James and Margaret Deering on May 31, 1939 in Norwalk, CT. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Marsha Deering.
For 61 wonderful years, James shared a loving marriage to H. Joyce Deering, his devoted partner and best friend. Together they built a family grounded in love, raising 3 children who were blessed by his unwavering support and guidance. He was a proud and doting grandfather to 7 grandchildren and one great-grandson, whose lives were enriched by his wisdom, warmth and humor.
He is survived by his brother Karl Deering and wife Paula, his daughter Teri Lynn Jacoby and her partner Michael Van Wagoner, son Michael Deering and his wife Pamela, and his son Douglas Deering and wife Stacey. His grandchildren Chelsea Jacoby Schon and her husband Taylor, Matthew, Joseph and Lauren Deering, Cassidy, Mackenzie and Colin Deering and great-grandson Barrett James Schon. James never missed a game, a school play or anything that involved his children but especially his grandkids. He would beam with pride at each one of them and their accomplishments.
Above all, James Deering was a wonderful father and role model whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. His life was a testament to hard work, humility and love and he will be deeply missed.
His family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025, with a prayer service to begin at noon, at the Magner Funeral Home at 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Followed by a Military burial at St. John's Cemetery. Rest in peace - your love and light will forever guide us.
