Janet Marie Jarvis
August 5, 1936 - June 6, 2022
Janet Marie (Dellert) Jarvis, 85, of Norwalk, died peacefully with her family by her side on June 6, 2022. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Gerald D. Jarvis, daughters Gwenn (Jim) Gilchrist, Allison Carlson, Jamie Jarvis, grandchildren Jeremy (Madeline) Gilchrist, Anna Gilchrist, Colin Namnoum, Margo Namnoum, and great-grandchildren James and Evelyn Gilchrist. Janet grew up in Bloomfield the daughter of Carl F. and Olga M. Dellert and was predeceased by her brother Dwight Dellert. She attended the University of Connecticut graduating with bachelor's and master's degrees. She was active in Hartford County 4-H as a young woman and then as a club leader in Fairfield County when her children were young. She loved camping, sailing, and the beach. She taught home economics in the public schools, worked with the handicapped at the Lower Fairfield Regional Center in Norwalk, volunteered in the community, served many positions at church (first female Moderator of the church council), sang in the choir, and created beauty through her sewing, stitching, and other fine handiwork. She was a member of the Embroiderer's Guild of America, the American Needlepoint Guild, and the Friends of Counted Embroidery. She was an ardent fan of the UCONN Huskies men's and women's basketball teams. A faithful friend, she was always available to help. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the First Congregational Church on the Green, 3 Lewis St., Norwalk, CT. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a reception in celebration of Janet's life after the service in the Parish Hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, Janet may be remembered with contributions to the First Congregational Church on the Green in Norwalk. I have so many childhood memories of spending holidays with my aunt Janet and family. She was such a kind, funny and smart woman, I really admired her. I know she will be missed by all.

I will miss our talks about our flower and rose gardens and watching Archibald the fat woodchuck that ran from under your shed to my shed when we were outside chatting away . I will cherish those 31 years of wonderful memories with the best neighbors anyone can have.

RIP Janet
