K.C. (Kenton Christopher) Hackman, 42, passed to heaven on Sunday evening, Nov 16, 2014, surrounded by his family, friends and Klaus, his cherished dog, after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the wonderful son of Bill & Deanna Hackman and the amazing big brother to his beloved sister, Holly.K.C. was born on Apr 29, 1972 at Los Robles Hospital and grew up in Thousand Oaks, where he made many lifelong friends.
He enjoyed his career in real estate and finance for several years, but he always loved the outdoors and watching things grow which stimulated his passion for organic gardening. He was an avid fisherman and found fly fishing to be his absolute favorite past-time. He loved to travel and his semester abroad was a cherished experience in his life where he made many great friends throughout Europe. K.C. was pure, smart, genuine and gracious beyond words.
He was quite a charmer and used his natural wit to leave a smile on the face of everyone he met. Lending a helping hand and putting everyone else before himself was a priority in his life. He had a true heart of gold and endless words of encouragement for everyone. We are truly proud of our K.C. and he will be immensely missed by his parents, sister, dog, fur-nephew Buster, aunts, uncles, cousins and an endless amount of friends. A generous soul like his lingers and it is the aroma of a beautiful life; the world is a sadder place without him in it.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in K.C.'s honor to: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: jdrf.org or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network: Pancan.orgA Visitation will be held Fri, Nov 21st from 6-8pm at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary in Westlake Village. A Celebration of K.C.'s life will be held Sat, Nov 22nd at 2pm in the same chapel, with interment to follow at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village.

What an incredible guy. He broke my heart in the 6th grade as children often do. But I always loved him. I am heartbroken for his loss. Truly sad. Why God takes the gregarious people makes no sense to me. But it is so. I miss you KC.

I just stumbled upon the news of KC and I am so very sorry to the Hackman family. It's been many years, but you may remember me living next door on Warwick and playing with KC and Holly.
KC was my best friend after moving to TO in '78. I'll never forget KC's 6th birthday in the backyard with the mini bike and he at mine in the pool next door. We had a lot of fun together. I'll look forward to seeing him again one day.

Kenton Christopher, I feel very lucky to have so many amazing memories of all the times we've spent together. Not to mention all the incredible adventures we've been on, these are memories I will cherish for the rest of my days. I only wish we could have done the things we had planned in celebration of you making a recovery. I thank god everyday for bringing you back into my life in more recent years. And I consider myself beyond fortunate to have had a boyfriend/best friend with such a big heart filled with nothing but love and compassion. You were the type of guy that saw an elderly lady struggling to carry her groceries and ran to her aid, a man that offered to help my grandmother with her yard work every time we visited, you put everyone else before yourself. You were one of a kind my love, there will never be another KC Hackman. Deanna and Bill my heart goes out to you, as your baby boy was taken from this world way too soon. Please find some comfort in knowing that your son touched every person he met in some way. KC you left this world a better place than it was when you came into it. Sleep well my love, until we meet again you will forever live on in my heart.

I have vivid memories of you running around the neighborhood back in our Acacia days. What exuberance you had! Much later, it was so fun to have you on the senior trip with the class of '91. You and Brent lived it up and had me laughing constantly. You are missed already, K.C. Rest in peace, old friend.

Just like your spontaneity in life KC, you picked a bad time to leave. Unfortunately I missed you again and wasn't able to say goodbye. You were a great friend and an incredible inspiration to so many people, you touched so many lives and hopefully will be able to touch and influence many more with projects getting organized in memorium to you. I miss you buddy and I guess it's kinda better I didn't get to say goodbye but rather, years from now after my daughter has grown and I'm done with this place, I'll see you again and we'll kick back on a beach and drink a beer and hang out together again.

Bill, Deanna and Holly,
So sorry for your loss. It's been years since I've seen you all, about 25 probably, but it seems like just yesterday when we were all teenagers hanging out at Mimi and Papas house. KC sure grew up to be a fine looking young man, and I'm at a loss for words to express my condolences to you. Prayers for strength and courage for each of you to get up every day and smile often. KC would want that I'm sure....Loves to all, Karen Strop (Lineberry)

You brought many gifts to us all. Oh your spirit..your perfectly timed wit.. with that raised mischievous eye as you seized upon the perfect moment to deliver the humor only you could so perfectly. Your inherent ability to transcend any and all social circles and walks of life...to diffuse and soothe the uncomfortable...to bring the positive and always the fun. I am certain that no matter where you were...an enthusiastic "KC!" would be heard from a distant friend to an enamored acquaintance. You my friend simply...organically... connected in way that most of us can only hope to. Your light burned bright...I love you dear Kenton Christopher, my heart will miss you until the planets align and we meet again.

K.C. played an integral role in making my experience as an exchange student during our semester abroad together in Europe such a memorable one. His zest for life, fearlessness, and generosity of spirit were infectious. He made good times great ones. I can safely say on behalf of our class that K.C. was one of the brightest lights of our group. Long may his memory live.
