September 13, 1940 - November 6, 2024

DONIPHAN - Beverly "Bev" Bernice Toben, 84, of Doniphan, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

Service and celebration of Bev's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Doniphan. Burial will follow at Cedarview Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m.

Bev was born September 13, 1940, in Grand Island, the daughter of Walter and Erna (Stueven) Boltz. She graduated from Doniphan High School with the class of 1959. Bev was raised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

On December 3, 1961, Bev married Wendell L. Toben. They made their home on the farm south west of Doniphan. She was a busy farm wife, mother and homemaker, whether it was raising chickens or helping her four children with 4-H.

Over the years Bev also was a school bus driver, was employed at Interstate Holiday Inn and worked in the cafeteria at St. Cecilia Catholic School of Hastings for several years.

She and Wendell are members of the Saddle Club. For several years Bev served on the Cedarview Cemetery Board.

Bev enjoyed decorating cakes and had made wedding cakes for several years. She also enjoyed cross stitch, putting puzzles together and tending to her flowers.

Those who cherish her memory include her husband, Wendell; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise (Marvin) Wiese of Doniphan, Kristie Toben of Kearney and Karla (Jeremy) Collinson of Doniphan; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Ben) Lammers, Heather (Matt) Coito, Lacie (Chris) Whitted, Alexis Keck (fiancé, Kalem Lockhorn), Tiffany Keck, Ashley Keck, Jacob Collinson and Nathan Collinson; and five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by three sisters, Betty Wichman, Jeanette (Ron) Bahensky and Wanda (Dennis) Knuth; two sisters-in-law, Rogene Toben and Marilyn Toben and several nieces and nephews.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; son, Douglas Scott Toben and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Doniphan Fire and QRT Department.

Bev was such a hard worker and always had a smile on her face! All the students, Faculty & Staff at Hastings Catholic Schools, St. Cecilia were blessed by Bev's gift of herself working in the school cafeteria, driving the bus or making us a HUGE tray of treats at Christmas! Bev kept our religious sisters stocked with fresh produce from her garden each summer/fall, with the help of the Reining family harvesting and delivering the produce.

Thank you for sharing Bev with us at Hastings Catholic Schools for over 14 years, retiring after she turned 80!

Please be assured of our prayers for the family as they grieve the loss of their beloved Bev.
