Bobbie Gonzales Obituary

Bobbie Gonzales

May 13, 1951 - March 27, 2025

Bobbie Gonzales, 73, of Grand Island, went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Bobbie was born on May 13, 1951 in Grand Island the daughter of Joe and Susie (Rosales) Gonzales. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High class of 1969. She worked with individuals with disabilities in her early career and retired from JBS Swift.

Bobbie will be remembered as a gentle, kind-hearted soul who radiated love to everyone she met. Her warmth and light touched countless lives, and her presence made the world feel a little softer, a little brighter.

She found joy in simple pleasures-making beautiful jewelry and crafts by hand, cheering on her "kids" at their performances and sporting events, and feeding the squirrels in her yard. Her heart was full when she gathered with her beloved classmates for their monthly luncheons, laughing and reminiscing over old memories.

Bobbie loved music whether strumming her guitar, singing her favorite tunes, or watching The Sound of Music. She had an eye for beauty, which showed in her lovingly curated collections of dolls, glassware, and unique treasures.

Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Bobbie served joyfully on many church mission trips, always eager to lend a hand, share in someone's joy, or sit beside them in sorrow. She had a gift for prayer and a heart big enough to carry the burdens and blessings of others. No name was ever left off her prayer list.

More than anything, Bobbie will be remembered for the way she loved. Family meant everything to her. She loved so many children over the years, and somehow made each one feel like they were her favorite with her bright smile, warm hugs and kisses, thoughtful conversations, and that unmistakable way she said "hello" when she picked up the phone.

She had an incredible memory and a deep appreciation for life's details always remembering birthdays, keeping treasured photos safe, and holding on to the stories that made up the Gonzales family history. She was the keeper of memories, a steady presence, and a source of unwavering love.

Bobbie's legacy is one of kindness, connection, and love. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her spirit will live on in the lives she so beautifully touched.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Lainie (Ken) Kotinek of Omaha; many nieces, nephews; and special friends, Marvin A. Wemhoff, Sam Lanzendorf, and Agustin Martinez. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Fil, Tommy, Jeri, Eli and Jimmy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, followed by a Parish Rosary at 7 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 3rd, also at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Father Jorge Canela and Father Robin Bashir officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Island Central Catholic.

Arrangements are under the care of All Faiths Funeral Home.

Bobbie was a friend to us all, bearing gifts, bringing friends together, caring and praying for others. We were blessed to have Bobbie in our life during my Grand Island years. May she RIP as a good and faithful servant.

Our family ate lunch at Suzi´s restaurant on Saturdays years ago. Bobbi and Jeri were always there. Bobbi was one of the sweetest people I have known. May she rest peacefully with our Lord.

I had the good fortune of meeting and visiting with Bobbie at GICC boys' basketball games. She was such a sweetheart with a big heart for the GICC kids and their families. I still have the bracelet she made me with my son's name on it. Her sweet gesture of making bracelets for the basketball moms was such a kind gesture. I will definitely send a memorial to GICC honoring her presence in the lives of other GICC fans.

I met Aunt Bobbie through her niece Carrie Galvan. Even though she was not my aunt it didn't stop me from calling her that and because of her sweet demeanor she made me feel like I was family. One of my first memories of Aunt Bobbie was when she drove the bus for detasselling. She had such a positive energy and was always upbeat and gracious. Later in life when our paths crossed it was nothing for her to greet me with a kiss. She was a special lady that I will truly miss and when I think of her it will always bring a smile to my face. God Bless her family as they grieve this tremendous loss.

I am so sad to hear about Bobbi. She was always so kind and loving to me and everyone who knew her. Was always so happy to see her and Linda Wemhoff when they would come to shop at Younkers when I worked there. Her and Linda are together again to cause whatever fun or trouble that they can come up with.
RIP my friend. Will miss seeing you in this world but I definitely know you are God´s angel watching over everyone you love
