GRAND ISLAND - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Wayne Patterson on November 30, 2024, at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by family and friends, who shared heartfelt goodbyes, bidding him a fond farewell and wishing him a peaceful journey to the next life.

Many of his lifelong friendships began during his time at Grand Island Senior High, where he graduated in 1970. Bruce followed in his father's and brother's footsteps working for the Union Pacific Railroad starting as a switchman and later becoming a conductor. After retiring from the railroad, Bruce worked at Excel, and Iaams in Grand Island, which became Proctor & Gamble.

Bruce is survived by his mother, Alice Patterson, and his brother, Gary Patterson, both of North Platte, Nebraska. He leaves behind his cherished children: daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Patterson of Lincoln, and son, Kyle (Chistine) Patterson of Grand Island. Bruce was a proud grandfather to Gloria Garza, Akirra Patterson, and Makynzie Patterson. He is also remembered fondly by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Wayne "Pat" Patterson; his sisters, Donna Effenbeck and Lori Kaeser; and his brother, Lee Patterson.

Music was the heartbeat of Bruce's life. He was the soul of every party, bringing the speakers and music that turned gatherings into celebrations. His basement music room was a sanctuary of sound. His passion for music and its magic left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Bruce was a devoted steward of the Earth, with a deep love for its natural beauty and a constant concern for its future. Bruce worried about the planet's challenges, and the careless depletion of its resources. His passion for nature was matched only by his hope for a better, more sustainable world.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island, Nebraska, on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 2 p.m. A reception at the church will be held after the service. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials can be made to the family. Thank you to all for your love and shared memories.
