Gary Wright
August 3, 1955 - July 21, 2024
On July 21,2024 Gary began his greatest adventure surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Hildegard and In-laws Russel and Fern Shafer. Those who keep his memory alive include his beloved wife, Lynn (Shafer); his furry companion, Kona; brothers, Ed (Jan) of Lincoln and Robert (Jenaffe) of the Philippines; sisters, Renate Stanton (Bill Nicholl) Fort Collins Colorado and Patricia (Kirk) Stewart of Redlands, CA, brothers and sister-in-law, Russel (Debra) Shafer, Collette (Gary) Ilk and Kurt (Jenny) Shafer; nephews and nieces Jami, Wendi, Will, Hanni, Jackie, Asia, Bobbi, Zoffi, Rumi, Russel, Melissa, Shaun, Virginia, Elizabeth, Emily, Geoff, and Nicole.
Gary grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska. He graduated from Central Technical College with an associate's degree in Electrical Construction. In 1978 he was lured to Colorado due to his love of skiing. There he found a job as an electrician at New Electric where he worked for the next thirty-six years. In those years he met and enjoyed working with many co-workers. Those were very special and fun times for Gary. He was very proud of the many construction projects he helped to build. In a way these buildings are monuments to all the people that created them.
In 2014, he and Lynn moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin to help Lynn's aging parents. There Gary created Wright Electric. He had many clients that he very much enjoyed working for. He loved his work.
We would like to thank Aurora at Home Hospice and every nurse (angel) that touched our lives.
Gary loved the mountains, the lake and music. I hope when we remember Gary we think of a happy song and love.
In lieu of flowers the family requests the memorials be made to Oshkosh Humane Society in Gary's name.
Fox Cities Funeral and Cremation, Oshkosh, Wisconsin is assisting the family at this time.

I believe my house was the last of many projects for Gary. He was a good electrician but even greater, caring and kind soul!!! I will miss you!
Until we meet again May God hold you in the palm of his hand! Prayers to all! We were blessed to have been touched by such a special soul.

Growing up on tenth street in the 60's and 70's was an adventure to say the least. Basketball games with Bill Daffer, Quiller Caudill, Rick Noel, Charles Plebanek, Greg Irick, etc. Dailey summer/fall events and I always watched from the sidelines because they were older and good too. Summer baseball games at Howard school were no exceptions: Gary and Bob Wright, Dave Parmely, Mike McFeely and myself, Mark Scarborough, Dave McCarty, Shane Murphy, etc. plus a host of others who played if they happen to be in the neighborhood. My family grew up with the Wrights since 1st grade. Bob was my best friend and soon the rest of the Wright family integrated within our own. Last time I saw Gary was when I attended my brother's 45th reunion and afterwards we convened at Rueben Sanchez's home at 12-ish something with Rueben, Gary, Dan Yost, and Mike and myself to hobnob about old times. Gary was a deep thinker even though he portrayed gentleness but had strong convictions and was stern about those ideals and beliefs. I will miss Gary but refuse to say goodbye old friend. Sometimes people come back in your life after a long absence and it is nice to pick up where you were a long time ago-sharing and understanding their travels in life. Gary will have another beautiful road to travel again and this time for keeps. To the Wright family-my prayers and thoughts always. Look me up Bob 402-804-6894/[email protected]. We have a lot of catching up to do. God Bless Ed, Renata, Bob, and Patricia.

I will always remember Gary & Bob as my brothers good friends that hung out at our house & neighborhood years ago. As the younger sister, I witnessed fun times! Glad we reconnected on Facebook in past years. May God bless the Wright family & give you peace during this difficult time. Gary is at peace now with our Lord in Heaven.
