Glen Sutton Obituary

Glen Lewis Sutton

September 3, 2024 - August 29, 2024

DONIPHAN - On 29 August 2024, Glen Lewis Sutton "Grandpa" died peacefully at his home in Doniphan, NE from his battle with cancer. He was 70.

A Celebration of Life for Glen is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Destiny Church Grand Island. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is entrusted with arrangements. The family asks attendance to be in Glen's favorite attire – casual, jeans and t-shirts! The family also asks in lieu of flowers, tree donations be made to Nebraska National Forest at Halsey.

Glen Lewis Sutton, was born on July 11, 1954 in Omaha NE to Lewis "Louie" and Virginia "Ginger" Sutton. Glen grew up in Omaha, graduating from Benson High School in 1973. Glen later met his wife Lynne Killion while playing a game of pool where Lynne beat him. They married on August 9, 1980 and just celebrated their 44th anniversary this year. Glen and Lynn welcomed their daughter Kelley in 1980, and their son Nick in 1984. They moved to Grand Island in 1986 and then to Doniphan in 1998.

Glen worked as a welder, and other odd trade jobs prior to going to Hulcher Services. There he started as a ground laborer and worked his way up to track-hoe operator. It is with Hulcher where he received the nickname "Grandpa" that has stuck ever since then. Glen loved that job meeting all the people throughout traveling over the years. Glen retired from Hulcher in July of 2020, only to find his dream job working at Platte River Harley Davidson until their closing in 2023, where after he worked as a parts runner for O'Rielly's of Grand Island. Glen's greatest joys were his love of his family, motorcycles, camping and his dogs.

Preceding Glen in death were his grandparents, his father, Lewis T Sutton, In-laws Charles and Patricia Beyersdorf, and brother-in-law John D Killion.

Glen is survived by his mother, Virginia of Omaha; wife, Lynne Sutton of Doniphan; daughter, Kelley & James Young of Omaha; son, Nick & Stephanie Sutton of San Antonio; in-laws, Jim & Anna Killion of Omaha; sisters: Diana & Edwin DeBolt of Omaha and Linda & Robert Gilmore of Omaha; 6 grandchildren, several brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
