April 1, 1940 - February 23, 2025
Marilyn M. Patchen, 84, of Phillips, NE, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Lincoln, NE.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2025, at Phillips Global United Methodist Church in Phillips. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2025, at the church. Pastor Dave Mendyk will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to the Phillip Volunteer Fire Department or the Phillips Global United Methodist Church.
Marilyn Marie (Hansen) Patchen was born April 1, 1940, in Minden, NE. She grew up to enjoy music and dance. She later attended business college and used that to find employment with the Overhead Door Company in Grand Island, Nebraska. Learning that a co-worker was about to be let go due to cutbacks, Marilyn retired, which allowed her co-worker to keep her job. That was the kind of person Marilyn was. A short time after retirement, Marilyn went to work at Sam's Club where she would greet people coming in or when they were leaving. Marilyn touched thousands of lives in her lifetime each time with a smile!
When not at work, Marilyn loved to work in her flowers and yard making them one of the most beautiful in the neighborhood. Marilyn was also an avid fisherman and would bait her own hook! She enjoyed going out on the boat with her husband, Dale, whom she was married to for 45 years.
Marilyn is survived by her four children, Dan, Dave, Connie, and Nancy; two stepchildren, Deb and Darren. She also had nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold; and daughter, Nancy.

Dale, Dale Johnson and I are very sorry to hear of Marilyn's passing. We were certainly surprised to hear of it. She was always happy when we were in school or any time we met after graduating.

I have been a good Friend of Marilyn´s from the time we were neighbors at West Park Plaza until she quit as a Door Greeter at Sam´s. Marilyn was such a kind lady. I am going to miss her very much. We saw each other at several places and she was always so kind to me. Rest in Peace Marilyn. I will be seeing you. I will be thinking of you and wishing your Family Deepest Sympathies. God Bless.

Marilyn was from Minden where my husband, Harold, was from. She was our friend & was the friendliest employee at Sam´s Club to check your groceries as you left the store. Will sure miss her on Facebook. Rest in Peace dear Marilyn.

I met Marilyn when I did demos at Sam's. She was a breathe of fresh air in my days. I got to chat with her when I did my own shopping. Sympathy to her family, she touched so many lives, and will be missed.

I will never forget her! Such a kind and gentle soul. Seeing her at Sam´s club was a true highlight to my Dad and I´s day! If my Dad wasn´t with me, she would always ask about him. Kindness goes a long way and she was one of those amazing ladies that touched my heart! Prayers and condolences to her family at this time.
