Michael Yoder Obituary

HENDERSON - Michael "Mike" Alan Yoder, 62, of Henderson, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at his home.
Mike enjoyed his last days with family and friends.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Living Hope Church in Henderson with the Rev. Luke Haidle officiating. Mike requested that family and friends wear bright colors at his service; no black attire please.
Private family inurnment will be a later date.
No viewing or visitation is planned as cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be directed to his family for later designation.
Mike, the son of Merlin and Merna (Marquart) Yoder was born May 4, 1960, in Lincoln. Mike grew up in Aurora where he graduated from Aurora High School in 1978. Following high school, Mike joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving six years as a financial management resource analyst (FMRA) at Cecil Field Naval Air Station, Flo., Parris Island, S.C,., and Camp Lejeune, N.C. Following his USMC service, Mike Joined the U.S. Army as a Finance Non-Commissioned Officer serving in Bamberg, Germany, and Fort Riley, Kansas. Mike served 12 years in the Nebraska National Guard, culminating with a rank of Staff Sergeant.
Additionally, Mike worked for Jim's Food, the Nebraska and Kansas lotteries, Heartland School, and the Henderson/Aurora Coop; and managed the Henderson Fuel Stop. Mike was also a letter carrier with the United States' Postal Service.
Mike married his wife, Bridget, on Oct. 31, 1991. Together they raised their children: Thomas, Jeremiah and Jennifer. Mike greatly enjoyed following his children's school activities and careers, as well as being a grandfather to 20 grandchildren
For several years Mike was proud to be part of the Henderson City Council serving as the Henderson Mayor. He really enjoyed supporting the civic activities and projects to improve the community.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Bridget, of Henderson; two sons and dauighters-in-law, Thomas and Randi Crosby of Junction City, Kan., and Jeremiah and Ashley Crosby of LaMars, Iowa; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brett Melton of Belleville, Kan.; a stepson and his wife, Geoffrey and Jen Rose of England; a stepdaughter and her husband, Casandra and David King, also of England; his mother, Merna Yoder, of Aurora; and a brother Monte (Kelly) Yoder of Whitestown, Ind.
Mike was preceded in death by his father and unborn infant twins.
