Thomas Stithem Obituary
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Wietzke will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Stithem was born Nov. 6, 1944, in Broken Bow to Otto and Ruth Fern (Hartson) Stithem.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Janet; a son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Marla Knecht of Wood River; two daughters, Kimberly Mostek of Hastings and Lisa Knecht of Twin Falls, Idaho; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Gwen Stithem of Broken Bow; a sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Jim Welch of York; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Evelyn, a granddaughter and grandson.
Thomas was raised and received his education in Broken Bow and Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1962. He proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Vietnam.
On July 7, 1992, he was united in marriage to Janet Pollock. They made their home in Wood River and Grand Island. Thomas was employed for the Nebraska Department of Corrections.
Memberships include Christ Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in memory of Thomas.

Dear Patty and family of Tom, I am so sorry to read the passing of Tom. It has been many years since I have seen him, but what a great guy he was and remember our school years.
