Just found that Dr. Q had passed. Wondered why he didn't return my calls. As a former patient, after he retired he kept in touch with me and my husband. People marveled that he was a friend as well as our physician. He came to visit my husband when he was dying from lung cancer, and attended his funeral. He truly was a valued friend and I miss our chats. He was "Dr. Q" to me. So nice to read the tributes from his wonderful family.

Dear Poppy,

Right now, Michael and I are sitting in Ocean City, and we are thinking about all the great memories that we had with you. As we reflect on your great life, we think back to all the days on the beach that we spent with you. We are so blessed to have such a hands on and kind grandfather. We were just reminscing about all the things that we broke at your house over the years that you had to super glue to get us out of hot water with MomMom. We loved coming to your house for the weekend. We played a lot of games, and stayed up really late, and never wanted to go home. I'm told that I always would say when I was little that "I was staying at your house til' Thursday." We miss doing yard work and following you at your house in Ambler or in Ocean City. We are so glad you got to be there for both of our freshman grandfathers' days at La Salle. We know that we have said it before, but we believe that its fate, so many things had to happen, change negatively and positively, for us to wind up at La Salle. Surely a lot of things went wrong but we wound up at the steps of La Salle. What a legacy we have at La Salle. Poppy, you put us on such a good path for life, and taught us so many wonderful things. We are so grateful to have gotten to spend so much time with you, some grandchildren never get to spend time with their grandparents, but Michael and I are so fortunate and blessed. We have thought a lot about you, and we have so many funny stories, and you always had us laughing. Whenever we see Villanova Basketball on the TV we will smile. We are really going to miss you, but we know that you will always be right behind us and with us for everything that we do for the rest of our lives. We love you Poppy.

Love,

Michael and Danny

Dad,
I can't imagine that there was ever a better father in the world. Throughout our lives, you were always focused on all of us ...on your family and your children (and your patients) ... and never yourself.

You provided so many great childhood memories: Ocean City NJ, Florida, Mount Airy Lodge, Cruises, Boy Scout Trips, 1983 76ers playoff series and Championship games (picking me up from SJU for each game); Sunday afternoon's on the side line at the Archbishop Ryan Football Games (listening to the Eagles on your transistor radio). Yes, the transistor radio was one of your 2 favorite things along with your newspaper! Nothing was better to you than sitting on the beach in O.C. with your transistor radio and the Daily News (from the kid that came by on the beach).

When we were kids you never missed one of our activities or sporting events ... not sure if other doctors leave office hours mid day to attend cross country (in some field) & track meets. You were always there ... win or lose ... good or bad.

You provided us all with the best and unlimited education that which we could ever ask for but of course we never had to ask. You provided your children with many so life lessons including ... the value of education, strong work ethnic, sacrificing everything for your family, the willingness to become or act like a kid again at any age, to live a simple and respectable life, and an unwavering commitment to our Catholic faith ... never any of this by words but simply by EXAMPLE at all times.

You were also a great grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by them all.

You hung in there longest enough to get an Eagles Superbowl win and (2) additional Villanova Basketball National Championships ... all 3 of which I think my boys and I watched with you.

I don't think that I have ever met a more kind, caring, generous, loving, honest and humble person in my life.

Thank you for everything. You will be missed by many every day. Love you Dad and hope to see you again some day!

In a chance meeting 20 years ago on a tour bus in Italy, we met Dr. Jack and Kathy Quigley. Jack and Jim had much in common. They both attended Holy Cross School and Villanova University. They shared their love for Villanova basketball. We soon became like family spending time together in Ocean City, Florida, an Alaskan cruise and played hours of cards.

We admired Jack's deep faith in God, love of his family and his compassion with everyone he met. We will miss Jack.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Dr Quigley. I was a patient of his for over 25 years. Great man and caring doctor. I especially enjoyed our sports talk. I happened to have an appointment the day after Villanova won it's first national championship.. He was definitely a loyal fan. Missed seeing him after his retirement. My sincere condolences to his family.

My grandpop lit up any room he entered and his energy illuminated to everyone surrounding him. He was radiant. He radiated love and laughter and knew how to put a smile on anyone's face. He was full of life but sensitive, loving, and compassionate at the same time. He will be missed dearly and is loved beyond words. I love you grandpop!

Wherever life takes you, you will always be my granddaughter
