Wayne Dietrich Obituary

Wayne S. Dietrich
Sellersville - Wayne S. Dietrich, of Sellersville and formerly of Telford, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at his home after fighting a courageous seven-month battle with stomach cancer. He was 55.
He was the husband of Wendy (Rutherford) Dietrich. The couple had celebrated their 31st Wedding Anniversary on March 25, 2020.
Born in Media, PA, he was the son of Joseph "Doug" and Suzanne (Schaal) Dietrich, of Lancaster, PA. A graduate of Delaware County Christian School, Newtown Square, PA, he attained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Taylor University, Upland, IN.

He attended Calvary Church of Souderton, Souderton, PA.
An avid Philadelphia sports fan of Phillies Baseball, Eagles Football and 76ers Basketball, Wayne was a champion for the underdog. He loved to read, cook, drink a good cup of coffee and listen to jazz music. He was also fond of traveling, especially to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Wayne will be remembered for his dedication to God and to people.
Surviving with his wife and parents are a son, Nicholas Dietrich, of Sellersville; and a sister, Sharon Haight, of Norristown, PA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Dietrich, and a brother-in-law, Robert Haight.
A Celebration of Life Service for Wayne will be scheduled at a future date.

I only knew Wayne through numerous phone calls, doing business with him over the years. I have always had the very highest respect for Wayne. He always took the time to help, with great patience and an uncommonly sweet spirit. In my decades in this business, I've never met anyone who could compare to Wayne! I will never forget his voice or his kindness. Wendy, if you or your family ever need anything, anything at all, please contact me.

Much love, Steve Grogan (APWD, Inc.)

Wayne mentored my son for his confirmation at a church he did not even attend. He passed the review as an "outsider" with no question. Danny did not feel anyone else could meet the challenge and he would not feel comfortable with anyone but Wane!

As Wendy’s parents, we were SO blessed to gain a son when they were married, and Wendy gained another set of parents, Doug and Suzanne, the salt of the earth, who have loved her like their own, from day one. Wayne lived out the Bible verse in Micah 6:8~"Walking humbly before his God, showing mercy, justice and deep compassion". He took God at His word, walked by faith, and now has been promoted to Glory, walking by sight with Jesus, reaping the rewards of a life lived SO well.
I will miss his “gentle giant" bear hugs, calling me “mom”, and reflecting always, his unconditional love to all of us. Always looked forward to his visits during those dating years, and no matter what I cooked, he gave me rave reviews, and then he became the real chef, teaching me how to make Brussel sprouts, (which I'd never attempted), taste delicious!!!!

Looking SO forward to our re-union, dear one~~really didn’t want to lose you, but God knew best, and released you from suffering, which you endured with grace and bravery. Loving you with all my heart~

Your second “Mom”, ELLIE ❤

Since I am Wayne's aunt, I have watched him grow up his whole life, as he became a man of God. Wayne will remain in our hearts forever. Wayne's great sense of humor, wonderful smile, kindness, love of God and his helping others, and especially his love for Wendy and Nick will always be remembered. We take comfort and gain strength knowing Wayne is with our Lord and other loved ones.

There is so much to say about Wayne that simply cannot be comprised in a short paragraph. Anyone that had the privilege of being around him for more than a 1/2 second would know exactly what we mean. He had a way of making you feel welcomed, valued and cared about in every interaction you had with him. No matter what was going on in his life, he always had an infectious smile. He was also willing to be real, which is often rare in the world today. He was willing to talk about his own struggles and was completely willing and comfortable listening to yours. He had a love for others which was evident, but the love for his wife and son was something that was truly special and inspiring. Wayne was a gentle giant and a true example of love, empathy and Christ likeness and we are very thankful to have known him and know we will see him again.

One fabulous memory of Wayne was when he coached my son in basketball. Wayne was a man of integrity both on and off the court. The way he treated the boys on the team was amazing! Every word that came out of his mouth was positive, uplifting, and a lesson to become a better player. Wayne was an incredible coach! I am so very grateful for the years my son was was on Wayne’s team.

Wayne and his wife were examples to me at Taylor University. I knew his wife and her family growing up and knew she would be in wonderful God loving hands when she married Wayne. He truly was a man of God and a wonderful husband and father. My love and prayers to both families.

Wayne was an amazing man. Over the years of knowing him, there were often times where I felt nothing short of family. I’m so sorry. RIP, Mr. Dietrich
