ALESSANDRO "AL" VICO
Alessandro "Al" Vico, 21, of Ithaca passed away as a result of an accident on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.Born on October 6, 1981 in Trumansburg, Al was the son of Dr. John Vico and Vera DiMartino Vico of Trumansburg.Al was a graduate of the Trumansburg High School Class of 2000 and was currently a student at TC3, majoring in Recreational Management. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was genuinely concerned about the happiness and well-being of others, especially children.Al loved the outdoors. He never passed up an opportunity to go hiking or mountain biking. He excelled in skiing, could hold his own in a game of lacrosse and liked the challenge of golf.Al's deep-seated love of music was expressed through his continually improving piano, drum and bass guitar playing. Al's wonderful sense of humor, equipped with highly contagious laughter, and kind soul, that warmed the hearts of those around him, will forever be engrained in the daily lives of all who loved him.In addition to his parents, Dr. John and Vera Vico of Trumansburg, Al is also survived by a brother, John P. Vico of Trumansburg; aunts and uncles, Sheldon and Philomena Gold, of Flemington, NJ; Dr. Corrado and Beth DiMartino of Tarpon Spring, FL; great aunts and uncles; Mary Francher and John DeSanta, both of Cortland, Mary Tucci, of Texas, and Corrado Montoneri of Italy; cousins, Jeff and Dave Gold and Matteo, Francesco, and Luca DiMartino; and several other cousins from the United States and Italy.A graveside service will be held at the St. James Cemetery in Trumansburg on Friday, August 15, 2003 at 12 noon with the Rev. Eugene O'Hara, OFM Cap. officiating, assisted by cousin Josephine Caratelli, Pastoral Minister.The family has graciously declined flowers but ask those who wish to remember Al in the form of a contribution to consider the "Alessandro Vico Scholarship Fund" at The Community School of Music and Arts, 330 E.
